Hi all. I don't even like talking about boarding because we love spending as much time with our new Doodle as possible! Yep, we're enamored.
My husband and I are new to the Tacoma area and are wondering if any of you have a boarding place to recommend? We don't have any trips planned in the near future that we can't bring him on, but I want to get some advice, do my research and visit the facility well in advance. It would be nice if it was right in Tacoma, but if you strongly recommend somewhere nearby I'm open. As a backup his breeder is in Oregon, about a 3 hour drive - so if we don't get any rave reviews we can always take him there.
I'm sure I don't have to tell you all what I'm looking for, so far everyone seems to love and care for their Doodles just as much as we do!
Thanks so much Helene! I checked out the site and called, even the woman that answered sounded sweet - I love that! And yes, definitely a shorter drive and I think it would be good for Bern. Thanks again!
Petvacations.com has homes in the area where they match you up with folks that babysit dogs by the hour or day in their homes. I live in Maple Valley and there is one by me that has acreage and the dogs play all day. But a little pricey at $30 day. I also found a fellow doodle home in Bonney Lake and they take in dogs at $15/day ($20 if not potty trained). It is a family that homeschools the kids and is home a lot, they have a large backyard and the 12 year old girl will even work on training with your dog. Let me know if you want more info.
My dog just stayed with a family in Maple Valley...found her through Pet Vacations too. I was SOOO pleased. My dog LOVED it. When we pulled in the driveway, I expected him to run in to my arms. However, he could hardly walk - he was that worn out!!
Hi Amy. Our 21mo doodle recently was boarded for 4 nights (first time). I viewed/interviewed 4 different places. I'm in Snoqualmie but have found (atleast the ones I checked out) families that did boarding out of their homes. We ultimately went with a family we found through petvacations.net - they have homes throughout the area. I highly recommend checking them out - there is probably someone near you. The dogs sleep in the homes with the families. So someone is there all night. :-)
