As you may have read, Luxie recently ate some socks and wound up getting emergency surgery for an obstruction at an after hours emergency surgical center last month. Well the surgery cost $3400, and I am happy to report that we just received a check for the 90% coverage we had purchased from Pet Plan! It was completely painless, and we had the check within two weeks of filing! It was the best purchase I ever made!! I believe the initial policy was $220 for the year. I thought others may be interested in our experience if you are looking at policies!
The only problem with Pet Plan is that if Luxie has another incident, you will have to pay your deductible "in full" again!! That was the reason I did not go with Pet Plan. The plan I went with accumulates the payments for visits to the vet that are out of the ordinary and once I reach my deductible, then they start paying and the deductible is satisfied for the entire year of the policy until the next renewal.
I just switched to PetPlan from VPI after reading all the recommendations from others. It seems to be a great plan. I have had VPI for years, but the plan I had with them has eroded over the years and they are paying less and less. So, I thought I would try something new with this new puppy!
We have petplan as well and set it up with a $200 deductible and 100% coverage. When Whopper ate the brillo pad, it was so nice to have them cover everything but that deductible and it was definitely an easy filing process. We now have Simba insured with them too.
