I have 4 dogs and will be bringing home a new puppy next week. They range in size from 22" down to 14". They spend alot of the time outside when the weather is good for which I have a large water cooler type  bowl. .I find that as the winter months arrive they are spending more time inside and I am filling the water bowl 4-5 times a day. Occasionally the outdoor cooler type bowl gets knocked over  when they get excited, which is fine because it's outside .I don't want to brigng the cooler inside because of the mess it could make if it gets knocked over.

I've looked at several options. Water fountains. larger bowls etc but I'm a bit hesitant on purchasing for fear they are just gimics. Ideally I would like something with these features:

1. large reservoir

2. works for multi size dogs

3.more than one dog can drink form at a time

4 Has a filter that can be rinsed and washed but does not have to be disgarded and replaced every month.

So Doodle owners, does anyone have any suggestions ?

Thx

I have a large stainless steel bucket that I keep in my shower and move to tub when in use etc.Harlee, Miss Chloe, Li'l Buddy soon to be Fergie.
I have a large 'travel' bowl that is not dribble proof but far superior to an open bowl. We had four dogs and two bowls. In hot weather we sometimes fill them more than once a day but in cooler weather we just fill them in the mornings. For years I have used an old crock pot bowl. It stays cool because it is ceramic, heavy enough so it is not knocked over, but even my cats crawl on top of the dog bowls and drink from the crock.

I've tried other things but they are not large enough or heavy enough. I love em.
What a great idea....my crock pot just died and I threw it out last week. If they hadn't already collected the trash, I would be out in my trash can digging the darn thing out.
There is always Goodwill, Salvation Army. Throw out the icky metal part of the Crock Pot and just keep the crock. I've been through several over the years. Even from the second hand store they clean up nicely--no lasting germs... etc.
What about wet ears???? My Springer always drags his ears in the water - hence the travel bowls for us.
I find that if you raise the water bowl to a higher height so that your dog doesn't have to bend over so far, the ears will naturally stay back.. It's the dropping the head forward that causes the ears to fall forward as well so dogs with longer ears tend to get them in the water bowl.

I purchased the Dogit Large Dog water fountain on the weekend. So far so good. It captures the dirt as I had hoped. Keeps the water cooler and needs less filling. I top it off with several times a day with water from my Brita pitcher and should only have to rinse the filter out weekly.
Even my newest 10 week old puppy is able to drink from it as the water flows down over the side of the dome for him to reach.
Curious to see how long the pump lasts but worth a try anyway.
Honestly, my dogs have never had wet ears. If it weren't posted here I would not know many have this problem. So now I really don't know why we don't
