Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We are waiting for the applications to be open for Almond Blossom's Spring litter of mini doodles.  We have a daughter with significant disabilities who is in a wheelchair.  We were considering a service dog for her through Canine Companions in Santa Rosa, but have changed our minds because we would like a smaller dog.  The mini doodle sounds perfect because it has the lovely temperament of the Golden and Labrador Retrievers who are typically used as service dogs.  We have seen the larger doodle dogs, but have yet to actually see a mini doodle.  We were hoping that someone in the San Francisco Bay Area who owns a mini doodle from Almond Doodles would be amenable to a visit.  We are in San Carlos.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Susan,

Nagui and I have a mini (F1b ) doodle from Almond Blossom named London. He turned a year old in August and is full grown at 21lbs. We live in San Francisco, so he is the perfect size for city living. He is such a lovebug. We would be happy to arrange a visit for you to meet him should you find yourself in the area.
Hi Anne-Catherine - We will definitely contact you if we are in S.F. Thanks so much.
Hi Susan,
We have a mini doodle. He will be two in January. We live in San Jose, and you are welcome to meet him.
Take care,
Joni, Robert and Max
Hi, My Winston is a standard and is a therapy dog ( not a service dog) and he is very gentle with individuals in wheel chairs, in fact he is really the perfect height for someone in a wheel chair. He is going to be adding visiting children with disabilities to his volunteer work. His first visit is the 16th of this month, so I will keep you posted as to how it works for the kids and a large dog. Did you want a dog that could sit in the chair with your daughter?
My Bella is a small standard and she weights 47 pounds.
We used to have a cockapoo and he was about 22 pounds and we felt that was the perfect size, which is why we are looking at the minis. But you raise a good point about a larger dog being at the right height for a wheelchair. Our daughter has cerebral palsy, with a lot of extraneous movement, so we probably won't be able to put the dog on her lap in her chair. Good luck with Winston's training! I'd love to hear how it goes.
Susan, I know this is silly but Kona is really tall and one thing we say about his height is how easy it is to pet him... you barely need to bend over. If we appreciate that maybe it will be a bonus for your daughter too.
