I am wondering if anyone has had their ALD genetically tested to find out what mix of breeds are present in their dood?  I am considering having Tara testing more for the fun of it than anything else :).

Just wondering if anyone else has tried it?

Starlit might be an Aussiedoodle with her herding instinct.
Ned's coat is high maintenance but really got easier when he turned two. I always ask the opinion of visiting breeders when I go to romps. No one really has a definitive answer about his coat, but they give it a lot of thought. He seems to have traits of both wool and fleece, curly and straight. He hates to be brushed/combed but has resigned himself to it because he doesn't have a choice (in his mind anyway) because my DH holds and cuddles and flips him one way and then another while I brush. If I had to groom him by myself, his coat would also be short because no way would he hold still and no way could I do it one handed.
Porter is resigned too. Very pathetic though which, in addition to my lack of time, is why I keep him short and brush him only once a week. He plays dead when I flip him from side to side...70 lbs of lump. Then he gives me the stink eye for most of the rest of the day.
I would LOVE to have a resigned dog. One I could just flip over like a LUMP!! I would even be willing to risk getting the stink eye!! Tara was a brush biter for the longest time until I redirected the biting from the brush to a treat! :) Okay, Okay so I BRIBE her!! These Pulidoodles can be a handful!!
These Pulidoodles can be a handful!!

hahaha!
OES are herders, and she has the large hips ( really large) , that sit higher than the wither. I'll never know..... Of course I could genetic test!!
Actually Starlit reminds me a lot of my goldendoodle. She has longer hair on her face, but that is just kind of your grooming choice. My husband likes the poodle faces on our dogs and especially on Groucho who has the heaviest coat. Groucho Too also sits higher at the wither, but we know his parents and he looks identical to his dad (a standard phantom poodle). He weighs 82 pounds as of today and has started putting back on the weight he lost when Hondo passed on. He was extremely depressed. Things are starting to look up for all of us.

Sheepdoodle for Sale--3 months old

Starlit Labradoodle F2, for adoption --4 months old

WHO KNOWS! ??

So if anyone is leaving DK it would be me for having some sort of Mutated Puli and a OES Mix! LOL
You are NOT getting rid of Starlit, are you??? What does that mean, 4-month old for adoption? Just a joke?
I wonder what Porter's test would show. He is an ALD with a grandma who came from Australia in 2002 or something like that, and she weighed 70 lbs. I suspect he has genes of earlier ALD breeding preferences compared to a lot of dogs here.
I am not sure there would be much miniature poodle in his background. He is heavy boned.
He definitely has large cocker spaniel-ish ears.
His short face and legs could be from the lab or the cocker spaniel genes.
His curly fleece hair is quite brushable...I am just lazy.
Sounds like you have lots of questions. Maybe a good candidate for testing. I'm also curious about my pup, but not curious enough to put out the money for the test. All his ancestors are from Tegan and Rutlands in Australia (or so they say), so he is some kind of an ALD blend.
Yeah, someday maybe I'll do it. Might be more fun to keep speculating than to actually know :-)
Sounds like there would likely be Standard poodle and cocker spaniel and then who knows from that point! Tara's hair is curly/wavy fleece too. I see no trace of Lab or Puli :) but I can see the poodle and spaniel for sure!
