Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello, I typed up this really long post introducing ourselves, and it wouldn't load! So here we go again. Milo is our 5 month old labradoodle. He is just the sweetest puppy ever, mostly well behaved and mellow, unless we leave a sock lying around, and then he gets a glint in his eyes, and hatches evil plots involving running away as fast as he can, sock in mouth.
We are loving every minute with him, but for the past month he has been plagued by stomach problems. First worms, then coccidia and now giardia. So he has been having diarrhea off and on all month, and antibiotics too. I have been wondering if he picks up these parasites at the dog park, but the vet says kids pick up stuff at preschool and that is not reason enough not to take him. I am secretly relieved to hear her say that, as he LOVES it there and has so much fun.
Other than that, we are working on manners (mostly not to behave like everyone we meet is our bestest friend ever, and we need to lick their faces to tell them that) and also trying to get a solid come when called. Off to enjoy the photos uploaded by y'all...

Hi! I loved reading about Milo! Thank you for posting. Milo sounds like our first doodle...the easiest dog ever. We just got a puppy and will have to reserve comment on how trainable he is since 10 weeks is a little early to determine that. The puppy had diarrhea at first and I read on many posts here recommending to give him a dollop of pumpkin and plain yogurt on his food. It really helped. I hope that Milo feels great soon. We are waiting for the day we can walk Owen out of the yard and take him to the dog park.
Welcome! Our girl also had some tummy problems when we first got her. Giardia, specifically. We had to do three tests and two rounds of medicine to get rid of it but it's been a month and a half now and she's clear. We take her to the dog park every day. Our vet said they can pick things like that up from drinking water outside (rainwater, etc.) or from other animals who are infected. We were told to keep her poo picked up and to spray where she did her business with a 1:10 water/bleach ratio to kill any that might be there where she went to the bathroom.
Our doodle Coco is 4 months 1 week and we, too, are starting obedience this Saturday and have been working on basic commands on our own (sit, down, here, and off).
Good luck and hope all of your tummy troubles are in the past :)
Thanks! We do give him yogurt and pumpkin, but the vet recommended one more round of antibiotics that I was wondering about. I guess I better give it to him and not second guess the pros :)
Hi KC, Welcome to Doodlekisses :-) It's a great source of good information, and I learned many things by following some of the threads. It's he same story with our 6mo old goldendoodle Max. Cute, loving, mellow, but smart and sneaky wehen it comes to socks and clenaning rags. He loves to steal them. Our Max also has Lots of diarrhea and stomach upset, and they found giardia a month ago. He is currently on antibiotics again and I didn't take him to the dog park all week. Sigh! He likes the dog park so much, I will take again next week. Perhaps we can get our doodles together some time? I am also game for dog sitting if you need a few hours to yourself or want to leave town for a day. [edited by admin]
Konstanze, I have removed your telephone number from your post above---please keep private info within private messages as anybody on the whole internet can see this discussion with your full name and telephone.
The other boards or groups I follow have a thread where you can see all the replies and comments. Here I am not sure you can see each others replies, or whether you have replied to me, and only I can see them. At any rate, I thought I would add an update and see if it reaches all of you. Thank you all for the warm welcome. We have already experienced one of the benefits of being part of this community: we had a lovely playdate this morning with Max at the dog park! Infact, it was doodle day at the dog park, we saw 4 other doodles there, and it was great fun!
Everyone can see the replies in this thread. I see three replies not including yours. Do you see them when you look at this thread?
Adina, thank you! Yes, I see the replies, so, what I need to do is go to my page, and then scroll down recent activity and then click on each mail? All the replies on different posts are on my page, but how do I surf a board to see past questions and answers. For instance, if I wanted to read the latest replies on the poop group, what should I do? I see that I can click on my groups in the bar above. But what then?
Thanks for your help. I love this site already!
