Hi Patty!
Boy can I jump on this one. Though prepackaged and formulated by Wholistic Pet, they have some formulas that I LOVE.
#1 diatomaceous earth - not to be confused with the pool type, this is human
grade, edible stuff! Wonderful for fleas, worms, all those nasty parasites. It
can be mixed with food as well as applied to bedding, fur, carpet, etc...
#2 Canine Complet Joint Mobility - excellent supplement
#3 Digest-all plus - enzymes that aid in digestion. Also very useful in food
changes, makes for a much smoother change with little or no upset tummy
even if switch is made cold turkey
All can probably be found in your local holistic store, but usually less expensive online.
Trina, I did not know about this website. Thanks to you, I visited it and purchased organic kelp and organic rosemary leaves. I tip my hat in gratitude.
I have found similar products for less, but I am really fond of this line AND I have just discovered that they have a breeders program. Hopefully our 'non AKC breeds' will be up for consideration and not result in a situation as I have recently reported with Evangers. I just submitted an application I will let you know how it pans out.
On diarrhea of course there is pumpkin or rice. I tend to mix a bit of both into kibble along with a tad of chicken broth which helps keep them drinking to avoid dehydration.
Gosh Patty it is only by trying to step in the footsteps of those who have gone before me. So many phenomenal breeders, so much to share and learn. Please count yourself among those I am referring to. I could NEVER put into words the gratitude I have for you all!
For diarrhea my vet recommends that you withhold all food for 24 hours, after that I boil some chicken and rice and feed him that for a few days. My husband jokes that the dog gets sick on purpose so he "gets the good stuff." For healthy skin and coat I give my dog fish oil. No more itchies and he has a thick healthy coat. We have a specialty pet store in our area that sells a natural ear cleaner that I like as well.
How are you? Which specialty store do you shop at? We favor Murphy's in the Winter Springs Town Center. We use the California Natural skin and coat supplement every few days or so and load up on many 'salmon' treats. Our fav is Plato's salmon strips. Our dogs go CRAZY for them! Please share which ear cleaner you are using, I would love to have options. Have a super weekend!
I am good. We should try to do another meetup when the weather gets a little cooler. I go to Pookies it is on Fairbanks in Winter Park between Clay and Formosa. They recently expanded and have a large doggie bakery.
Oh, the earwash I use is called natural herbal earwash and is manufactured by halo a company here in Fl. It has witch hazel and different oils and extracts. It actually smells good to me.
