As of today...Bedford has insurance. This "hunt" is not for the weak of heart. It was quite the process.

There are so many variables it made my head swim.

A spreadsheet was created and we looked at 8+ companies.

Several great tools...

While in doodlekisses forums, I did a search for pet insurance. I printed most of the entries off so it could all be laid out and dissected. This took some time but all that feedback helped put the puzzle together to make a decision.

Got this link from another doodlekisses discussion: http://www.petinsurancereview.com/

Whole Dog Journal had an article in April 2009. It profiled multiple companies. (It's $7.50/subscribers $10/nonsubscribers)

For us...it finally came down to (2) companies...Trupanion & Embrace. Embrace was ultimately chosen.

So for all you new puppy families...if you think pet insurance might be a good idea for you...keep at it...you'll get there.

Hi Lucy's and Sophie's Mom. I personally have not had to use it yet (thank goodness) but a gentleman in my obedience class (he has a golden retriever) had to use it just a few moths after he signed up. His dog got into something and needed to go to the emergency vet. The bill was $1500.00 and he was very pleasantly surprised that they paid the claim fast, did not question ANY of the diagnostic tests and did not hassle him at all. He had a $200/incident deductible and a $0 co-pay. He said withing 2 weeks he had received his check for $1300. I was the one that told him about pet plan and he thanked me again and again. That was a great feedback as far as I was concerned!
sounds great. I think we are going to sign up and hope we never ever need it.
I choose Pet Plan for my dog and as a gift for my daughter's dog. I have had to use it once for an emergency vet visit. Almost $700 later, we found out it was basically stomach problems. As my husband said "we just got a $700 gas bill." My deductible is $200, so I recouped a little over half of that bill. I have already renewed for next year.
Have you had to use your PetPlan policy for any reason yet. I'm just considering this plan now.
Lucy and Sophie's mom, I did use it once and posted my response. Was this question to me, because I wanted to make sure I answered it. Good luck.
Check out www.lifequotes.com

I always check all insurance policies through lifequotes.com - pet, life, health, auto, etc.

You can tell them Finley and Julie Bowles sent you. I get nothing for it at all, it just so happens that it's someone I know.

Pets Best is what I chose mainly because I had several recommendations for it!
