Hi All,

Roxie and Kirby have been together about 6 weeks now and they get along great.  I'm having one problem.  Roxie being bigger and older is quicker than Kirby so when they play, Kirby will bite on her tail to try and slow her down.  Roxie doesn't complain at all but she now has a cut that is bleeding on her tail.  Any ideas on how I can stop this?  I don't want to stop them from playing together because they have bonded so well.  All suggestions welcomed!

Thanks - Roe

When it escalates to tail biting grab puppy and pick up gently by the ruff of her neck and say firmly no or leave it. When she starts listening to the command give her a treat. It is just going to take a few times, maybe several and she will get it. Be consistant it's trully worth the effort.

Thanks I'll try the treat because the No has not been working! Why I didn't think of a treat is beyond me!
When I toss a toy for Rags and Holly, I toss one toy to the left and other toy to the right. The doods bring them back and I keep repeating the game so no one is trying to fight over who gets to return the toy to me. Hope this suggestion is helpful : )
Great Minds Think Alike >>>> I tried this ...nope....Kirby wants what ever Roxie has...I even tried getting them the exact same balls...I think Kirby just wants to do whatever Roxie is doing, he's always right next to or right behind her! He is definitely going to be bigger than her, so I know soon he will outgrow it. I'm just feeling bad for Roxie thought she really doesn't seem to mind.
Reminds me of when Groucho Too was a pup. He always pulled on Hondo's ears until all the hair was out of his ears. My husband uses Tabasco sauce on the walls and cabinets where the puppy chews, but that may be painful if Roxie already has an abrasion on her tail. It will pass.
ohhh I wonder if I just put something on the very end of her tail away from the abrasion if maybe even the scent would keep him off....mmmm.....this might be helpful!
I had the same issue with my dogs. Cooper the younger dog would do the same to Rylee. We also have lots of play dates and he would do it to the other dogs. It is starting to pass. He doesn't do it so much. They figure it out.
