Daisy's color change

When we brought Daisy she was "DARK CHOCOLATE BROWN" with prominent a white blaze on her chest and front feet and a little white tipped tail. She is now a mocha chocolate. Her prominent white paws are now more blended so you know her feet are whiter but not so obvious. We love her "new" color but being naive (and not yet connected to DK) we thought she'd stay the original colors.

here she is day one *note the teeny tiny white tipped tail, she still has it but you really don't notice it.

and here she is at 4 months

 

then the big change sometime this summer (maybe something to do with sun bleached hair)

now at 13 months, she is totally different

the really cool thing is the white blaze is a totally smooth almost straight coat but all the mocha around it is curly/wavy.

Now at 20 months we say Daisy is Hot Chocolate with Marshmallow, her back is practically cream and her ears are chocolate. Crazy coloring and we love it.

Wow, 1st thing I noticed in the current pic is those big ole long legs! She looks like a big girl! Her coloring is beautiful. I think it is pretty normal that the Chocolates fade. Like you we had no clue that happens until we found DK and started learning all these things. Doodle kisses started almost the same day that we got our girls. Our Lucy was coal black as a puppy and today she is almost silver. She started turning almost immediately, and even when I look back I can now tell by looking at her face that she would turn. Like you though I love the end result.

Fudge was much darker when we brought her home too and over time, her coat is getting lighter and lighter. One of her parents was a Parti Poodle, so it will be interesting to see what her coat ends up at. I am always struck by how much Fudge and Daisy look alike.

Daisy's Daddy was a parti poodle as well and resembles him in many ways (his picture is in my photos).

I agree, they are very similar, right down to the while blazed chest.

She certainly did change quite a bit...but she is incredibly beautiful!

I never got to see my two as puppies but I notice Clifford's fur changes each time we groom him. Daisy's change is dramatic and she is beautiful at each stage.

Rooney is a parti colored ALD. He his dark brown was so dark at birth that he looked black. Now at almost 4 months, he is getting lighter mostly over his body. His white paws are now a mix of brown and white, so far his chest and tail have remained white but for how long? I love the mocha - Daisy is beautiful and I'm hoping that all of Rooney gets lighter too.

I see a lot of doodles at work and some of the most striking color changes are in the chocolate ones. I have a friend whose ALD was chocolate until she was about 2 yrs old, now at 3 she is a beautiful cafe au lait. Then there is the less common lavender and lots of colors in between. I love seeing all the doodles, but the chocolates and their color variations are some of my favorites.

Daisy is just beautiful....as are all the pups in these pics. :-)

BTW, my goldendoodle Connor started out deep red. At 3 yrs old, he is shaded gold (strawberry blond) to red - his tail and ears being the darkest.

Wow... It's so funny how they change... wonder why? Is it the "Poodle"? My golden retriever never changed his coloring, and when I was younger and had "mutts" they never changed either... Tori didn't really change much though.... her 'copper colorings on her as a pup just turned more 'white'. But basically her black stayed black (we're happy with that)

Oh my gosh she did change a lot!! All of them adorable!! I can't wait to meet Daisy Doodle in the fur!!

I did not know that most doodles' colors faded before dk am am amazed at how much some change. I might have been disappointed if I had not become a member of doodlekisses and found out that this is the norm for doods for some reason - maybe it is the poodle part. I have some to appreciate the changes and think that especially the chocolates are such fun - like they say - "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you will get" - only in doodlese: "Doods are like a box of chocolates, you never know what the outside will be." (We already know about their delicious insides)

Sisters of a different mother?   If I could not see who was writing this discussion then it could have been me--just change the chocolate to black.  Blaze is an interesting way to describe both girl's chests. Wonder if my husband would call my chest blaze....oh oh wrong discussion.  Back to the doodles.  The Blaze is almost the same shape and as you describe different in texture and curl width.

Another strong comparison is the white wisps on the tip of the tail.  I have just a few pictures where you can see the wisps.  She still has them but it does not always show up in the pictures.  Below is a picture that shows the white tip of the tail.  Starlit is not lightening but she is showing up with more white hair each day.  The black is being replaced on the tummy and along the Kemp.

 

The rear feet are more white on Starlit than the front of Daisy, but one front paw has more white than the other.  So she has 2.5 white paws of different degrees of whiteness and a wisp to the 4th.   I noticed that Daisy has a pointy nose when she was a pub.  Starlit's snout is still very pointy but she hides it well. 

 

Since Starlit was a rescue she was listed as a Labradoodle f2, but who really knows.  There are many Black Goldendoodles.  Again, different mother?   Maybe not at all but I just thought your description was uncanny

We really need to introduce the girls one day.

This is a plan for sure, I think they are about the same size as well now - 65lbs here how about Starlit?

In the Spring when the weather warms up we will have to meet. I was thinking Bow Wow bit it isn't the greatest place cause Daisy doesn't care much for other dogs there, she only wants to swim and chase her ball. We need a big open park where they can run and play together.
