Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

The December Assignment is for portraits of doodles  or people. Please give us as much information about settings as you can. This is a good assignment for this cold weather in much of the country I think. I hope everyone, that's over 200 of us, will participate.

I had posted a discussion about portrait lenses a while back. I've decided not to spend the big bucks now but the information, especially from Ricard Crowe is worth reading for this assignment.

Well, that didn't take long to figure out! I love this!!!

Lovely portrait but Cooper does need a little more room at the top.

Beautiful photo....look at those nice clean, white teeth.

Great picture, Jean.Just look at that happy tongue.

I guess I need a tutorial for the tutorial since I didn't really get that my "picture" wasn't a "portrait". Oops! Sorry all-I thought it was! I think it's too late to remove it! :(

If you were responding to my comment I really don't know the formal definition of a portrait. I just thought the focus should be more on the cute little boy.

Oh thanks-I was on my phone-not computer last night & wanted to quickly post an "oops" in case I was off task. No biggie.

I think maybe this was what was meant.  All the distracting items off to the one side are eliminated.

Mike

Ah...nice~I get it! Thank-you!

Thanks Mike, a picture is worth a thousand words.

No, no...don't feel that you have to remove it.  That is why we have this group so we can critique and help each other out.  You will see what Mike did below to give you an idea how to improve a photo.  You just got your camera and are excited about it.  Keep on taking pictures and sharing them with us.  I am not sure exactly what a portrait is but I have always assumed it was from the bust up with the subject totally in focus and the background blurred...that would bring an aperture setting into play.  But that is why we are here...to LEARN!  I love how much better the photo looks cropped!  Any questions you ever have just post them here in the Photography Group.

Thanks Nancie for expanding on what I meant. I can get too terse : ) And for being so kind!
