F asked me to post this discussion here. My sister made this blanket for Jack when I adopted him. She also made a Chicago Bears throw for my grandson, same idea. There's no sewing involved.
You just buy two squares (or rectangles, depends on what size you want and the width of the material) of fleece material, one print and one coordinating solid, both the same size. Match them up, one on top of the other, and pin them together securely. (If you do sew a little, you can use big basting stitches instead of pins.) Then cut "fringe" all the way around the edges through both layers, about 3" deep. Knot every two pieces of fringe together, remove your pins or basting, and voila! A very warm and cute blanket. Nice for a baby blanket, too, especially for the carriage. It's double thickness microfleece, so it' s very warm and soft. And it makes a good throw for a college dorm room, or a sports fan; you can buy printed fleece with the logos of practically every sports team, and practically every other kind of pattern.

Thanks so much Karen! I imagine these are easy to wash and dry too. Great idea.
They wash & dry great. The other problem is when they're used by shedding dogs and cats like mine. The hair embeds itself in fleece. :(
My neighbor made one for Lucca last year for his first Xmas. Now Izzy is using it.
Karen, Thank you -- The blanket is adorable and a great idea! I'm heading to the fabric store tomorrow. All fleece is on sale so I will have fun. I think I may make a throw for the couch, easier to was paw prints off a fleece blanket then a fabric couch....
I wanted to make butter a fleece blancket for Christmas. This will be perfect for him!! Thank you!
Just remember when you wash it not to use fabric softener - this will keep the fleece softer and pill-free. These blankets are wonderful to snuggle under when the doodle is off on his own and isn't keeping my feet warm!
Oh, nice tip!! I would have thought that using the fabric softer will keep it soft!
I have a few of these blankets made by my sister-in-law and a friend. They are a great idea, I love them! :-)
Lucca chewed the ends as a puppy. That's why I had put it away and now Izzy has it but she doesn't seem to be a chewer...at least not yet:)
I have zero sewing abilities, so I'm excited to see how easy it is to do this! This looks like something I could actually make! THANKS! *hug*
Oh my what a wonderful and easy to make winter project - I am definitely going to make some and especially one for the back seat of my car - I can probably use the strips to tie it to the seat belt connectors so it will stay 'on' the seat - it looks so cosy and comfy.and easy to wash after those dog park romps. Maddie plays so hard at the park that she always leaves wet, snowy or just plain dirty depending on the season (lol). Thanks so much for the wonderful idea - I just joined the group and I have a couple free projects that I will post later.
I'm glad you joined and looking forward to your postings.
