Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi there,

My 3 yr old female gooldendoodle has had 4 seizures in the last year....vet said nothing to worry about, because she is acting normal after and it is not affecting her at all.   She had her first when she got startled by my husband and everyone after that seems to be when she gets startled.  Her one today was different, my mom brought in a bag of xmas gifts and she didn't really seize but was on the verg of one she was just trembling, and i just talked to her in a reassuring voice and she seemed to calm down after about 5 mins.....

Anyone ever had this with there doodle????? please any suggestions would be helpful.

I'm sorry to hear about your girl having seizure problems. There is a group here on DK of people who have similiar situations with their doodles:

Perhaps you can read through some of the past conversations or start a new discussion in that group as well as this one.  Tara does not have seizures but I had a previous dog that did (just very small ones). They did seem to be set off by noise-rustling paper, slamming drawers, that sort of thing.

Anyhow, I think you will find some people here on DK that can give you some advice and support.  Good luck and welcome to DK!!

I'm sorry to hear about the seizures.  That must be scary!  I hope you can get the information and help you seek.  Good luck and please keep us posted on your progress.
Hi Tara - my Hudson had Grand Mal seizures at 14 months old - that was over 1 year ago and he hasn't had a seizure for over 1 year now.  There is a lot of discussion in this group about seizures and please do not ignore what she is going through.  Your vet should not tell you it is nothing to worry about - you should understand what is happening and what you can do to help limit them.  Your girl sounds like she is having petite mal seizures which aren't quite as scary but please take the time to understand what they are all about.  I really want you to do your homework to understand seizures and then you can move on.  I haven't been on our website for a while because I have so much going on but thought I would peek in for Christmas!  Golden Retrievers and Poodles are some of the top breeds that have seizures - something I didn't know until Hudson had his first one.  He is doing absolutely fine now - but is on medication and I know that they could come again - or never again.  But just take the time to understand them so you can be prepared.  They can live completely normal lives but read through the discussion forum on health issues.
