Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi All! My 8 month old mini labradoodle, Peaches, is a really good girl. In the last month or so she has began playing with her toys in the most destructive ways possible. Luckily it's nothing that she's not allowed to play with. No matter what I get (nylabones, rubber toys, toys without stuffing, string toys, etc) she sets her mind to destroying it and does a really good job of it. The folks at the pet store suggested maybe that's just her way of playing, which I"m really okay with since she does it with the appropriate toys.  The only draw back is I am getting really sick of picking up little pieces of toys everywhere and buying new toys every few weeks.  Any suggestions of relatively indestructable toys or toys that provide other stimulation or interest?  Thanks!

Laura,
Our small/medium doodle plays with his toys the same way. I just bought him some odor free deer antlers. I supervise him, when I give it to him. He has had it for about a month now. No mess to clean up:)
I looked at those last month but got distracted! Did you order yours online? If so which company did you go with? Thanks for the reply! Glad to know it's not just Peaches!
I got mine at a dog boutique. I need to pick up some more this week. I will ask what company she orders from. Just like your pup, Rex only chew on his toys. He is a good dog. Just destroys his toys. I will let you know the name of the company by Tuesday. Peaches is very cute.
Hi. Sonny is almost 2 years old and he is still destructive with his toys. Like your pup he is only destructive with toys. For a while I ws going through toys so quickly I thought my DH would kill me. Sonny managed to rip apart a Tuffy rated 9 for toughness toy in less than 5 minutes. They only toys I have for him now are black knogs (he can rip apart any other color), an Orbee ball (the glow in the dark not the one with continents), the giant ball of knots and the biggest nylabone they make.(I think they are called Galilieo). He has a million tennis balls but goes through them like crazy. He also likes soccer balls but those only last until he chews them apart too. I stopped buying everything else. I was wasting money for him to just rip them apart and like you said pick up all the pieces. The ball of knots does shred alittle but he likes it. Hope this helps!
FYI.. when the nylabones start to fray, you have to throw them out!!!
Thanks Ali! I've been bad about letting her keep chewing them b/c they start to fray seemingly immediately!
Tori tears apart the ropes in minutes and eats the threads... I've heard horror stories about the threads getting stuck "on the way back out" so... these are now banned form my house!

Thankfully (knock on wood) he doesn't he them. The giant knot ball doesn't come apart as easily as the ropes do. Santa bought Sonny a knew one of those but that is also MIA. I am guessing when this snow melts I am going to find some inside toys that made their way outside!

Get a bigger size. They don't fray as easily. It's because when they fray and the fray gets shap and they chew it off it can get caught in their digestive tract and can be dangerous.
Hi ALI!  Knew you'd be right on this one!  :o)
What kind of nylabones does your pup have?
Just been using the standard adult nylabones but in a larger size.  I was just looking online and I've never seen anything like the Galileo mentioned above.  That looks promising!
