UPDATE: One handed for awhile . . .

Went to the Dr today to get the split replaced with a cast for my broken wrist . . . or so we thought . . . when I took the splint off for x-rays (first time I removed it since I broke my wrist on the 27th)--my wrist looked yukkie . . . almost deformed and even the back of my wrist is black and blue . . . I was therefore surprised, but not totally shocked, when the Dr advised surgery. The wrist is broken much worse than the emergency room staff thought. Without surgery, I will probably never regain full function of my hand and/or fingers. The up side is it is in and out the same day even though they will put me under . . .

I really, really need to solve my bone strength issue before I wind up breaking a major bone--like hip or tailbone which I easily could have done this time. I have an awesome primary care Dr and she already has a plan in mind to try to diagnose whatever the specific issue it is with my bones and come up with a plan to correct the problem. Strenght training will no double be a component . . .

So, for the next few weeks, I will be mostly one handed. It's not too bad for photography except that the turning motion of focusing hurts a bit . . .

Sorry to hear you're in such pain. Give it a couple of days and it should start feeling somewhat better. In the meantime take whatever pain killers you've been given. A few days of  a fuzzy head are better than pain and as soon as you don't need them you'll be fine.

So happy to hear surgery was a success!  Positive thoughts going up for a speedy and complete healing!  You sound high spirited and hope the pain is minimal when the meds start to wear off.  Pamper yourself for a few days and relish it!

Hope you are feeling better soon, keep your hand elevated on a pillow that should help with the pain and swelling as well. They give you pain meds for a reason so don't be afraid to take them, better a little loopy than in pain.
