My favorite all time winery is the Mon Ami at Catawba Island on Lake Erie. They originally opened in 1872 and the building and grounds are beautiful. It is a really big place - they have the full winery and gift shop and then a large formal dining area and a huge informal restaurant with a really large bar. In the summer they actually can open the walls and the inside bar area leads to an outside bar and patio. They have bands and entertainment every weekend and I think even more on the summer evenings. The restaurant is wonderful, very nice menu from sandwiches to steaks & seafood. It is definitely worth the visit if you are in the area. Catawba Island is next to Port Clinton, OH and the Sandusky area. You can make a weekend out of it and go over to Put In Bay, South Bass Island and Kelley's Island. My favorite of their wine's is the White Niagra and White Catawba. My DH likes tha Haute Sautern (White) but it can get a little dry for me. Here is the website......... http://www.monamiwinery.com/
There quite a few wineries in the north Georgia mountains that DH and I like. Our favorite is Three Sisters Vineyards (http://www.threesistersvineyards.com/main.asp). I have to say thanks for starting this discussion otherwise I would not have gone to their website in time to learn about their Wine & Chocolate Lovers Celebration they are having next month (http://www.threesistersvineyards.com/product.asp?ID13=1010). Calling to order DH and my tickets now.
St. Francis in Sonoma. Love it!
Well, I'm originally from Long Island, NY and there are some really good wineries out there. My favs are on the North Fork!
I'm now living in Oregon. I'm unable to decide which are my favorites. Most of them are really good. There are so many. Let me go on another winery crawl or two. Washington also has some good ones.
Laetitia Winery, Pismo Beach, CA. We head up north every October. We stay at the Cottage Inn, We visit Laetitia, Avila Farms where we take a hay ride out to pick our own pumpkins and attend the city's biggest event....Pumpkins on the Pier.
I'm looking forward to our trip this year with the dogs. We will take them on most of our day trips. They also have a GREAT dog beach up there. They have romps for different breeds all of the time. Fun, fun, fun vacation!
