Well, the famous Phil, on Wednesday, did not see his shadow and according to tradition, this now means we are in for an early Spring. For those of you who read my blog about our Groundhog day, you know folks who live in PA are a sucker for Groundhogs :) Our little guy was not as smart as Phil and for all we know, could have been Priscilla, but we are hoping Phil is correct. Who is ready for an early Spring???

Here is the link to my old post called Groundhog Day.

Early Spring......PLEASE!!!!!
Oh Punxsy Dear...I hope you are correct!!!!
That first picture looks kind of doodley if you look at the nose. No?
Who the groundhog or the guy holding him?
hahahahahahahaha.  THAT... was funny!
I vote for an early spring! Achilles was sliding on the ice this morning. He did not like it.

We all have something famous.  My DH's great uncle was the caretaker of Phil.  It does us no good.  We get no benefits for being related and getting our Spring season early.   Just had to put this claim to fame out there.  He reminds me of this famous connection each year.

DH used to go there with regularity as a  young boy  when visiting the family farm.   One,  of his family farms on his mother's side  ( yeah he is an old farm boy but grew up in the big city-'said with a twange').   His Mom's farm was 8 miles away. Way way way out in the country. He would travel from Ohio each summer to play, meet a Phil, then on down the the Ohio farm to bail hay.    Yee Ha!

He has met many many of them there Phils.

Oh Joanne, I do so much with groundhogs day in kindergarten, I am so honored to know someone related.
It kind of had me smitten with the whole thing too   :)    To actually know someone related.  LOL.   <---silly    It really is fun day to celebrate with the young ones.  Funny, I am old and I still get excited for Groundhogs day.
You mean this is not the original Phil? Refund immediately--oh I didn't pay : ) Glad I'm connected to Phil in a way. I have a few woodchucks I'd like to donate for future Phils.
He told me there were at least 2 or 3 Phils when he visited.
Ha ha ha ha...I remember that post when you found the Groundhog in the basement window!  Great story!
