Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi! Our Goldendoodle will soon turn 2 this month. Her Dad was a black & white parti standard poodle ( Mom a Golden) . Bella was black at birth with a white patch on her chest & chin. This past couple of months she has really changed color ! Her face is almost all grey now and all 4 legs are a greyish white. Her back is still black with some very prominent white hairs mixed in. She is a beauty, but I have found it hard to get a good picture of her to show her true coloring....hard to believe eh? LOL

From what I read this is a type of phatom coloring I think. Antony else out there know or have a doodle with mixed  ( or grey ) coloring?

YUP! Duff was all black when we got him at 8 weeks and started turning silver around 4.5 month old! The picture with the stick is from when he was 4.5 months old, the other is from last month (he's 2 now).
Wow..it's so funny but our Bella looks exactly like  Duff....it's like looking at pictures of her :) Arn't doodles  the best breed ever, their  expressions  & temperment..just love em!
This is a sweet picture !  Our little Storm (he's 20 wks now) has a white beard and white under his paws and a small white streak on his chest. He is starting to get a few grey hairs on his back!  Your pup is a gorgeous color now!  :)
Do you have any recent photos?
I can't seem to get a good one..but I'll try this weekend outside in the snow ( good tip Lucy's Mom) :) Lord knows we have loads of snow....

Porter's got a grey face and tail, and white ear edges.  His dad is a white ALD, mom chocolate ALD, both around 40 lbs.  I was told he'd look like his 70 lbs black-grey-brown grandma and he does :-)

Porter's been basically this coloring since 8-ish months though, which is different from your Bella.

Here's our Lucy.  Her Mom was a "Blue" Poodle and she started turning almost immediately.  If I look closely even at her very young puppy pics it looks like you can see where the face is already turning.

Here she is now:

I find that it is easiest to photograph a black dog outside, particularly in the snow.

Our Maggie also was jet black as a pup and now has lots of grey in her coat.
Wow, that is a pretty late colour change! My doodle is pretty much all black still (@ 9 mos) although she has a few stray white hairs and her ears have a reddish/brown hue to them.

Not a great pic, she will never look at the camera, always looks away and it really does not show her true coloring. I'll try for a better one, black doodles are hard to photograph :)
