Chase is our medium sized LD, he is now two years old.  His mum was a chocolate LD (possibly second generation, I can't remember) and his Dad was a cream Australian LD.  Chase was very dark chocolate as a puppy.  In his first summer he went a little gingery on the tips from the sun.  I was combing him out today and realised just how dramatically his coat has changed lately.  Can't be the sun, it is the middle of winter!!  His face is quite a bit darker than the rest of his body, although it doesn't show so good in the picture.  So, I have been researching and wonder if he is turning into a Cafe Au Lait or a Lavender??  What do you guys think??

Our dark chocolate puppy when we first brought him home.

Chase today after a thorough combing!!

Hartley is an F1 LD, he is very labbish, and he is pretty much the same colour as when he was a puppy.  So maybe is an ALD/ multigen thing to get lighter with age?

This is exactly what happened to Daisy (see previous posting in Chocolate Doodles)....Daisy is an F2B GOLDENDOODLE. Daisy's Mom was a first Generation "black" goldendoodle and her dad is a Standard Parti Poodle, cream and chocolate. Daisy's head is way darker than her body + golden colored ears and lighter colored snout. Her body is chocolate with lots of white hair mixed in. We love the changes but really were expecting a chocolate doodle with white paws like when she was a baby.
Fudge's twin is still a beautiful doodle. Love the puppy picture. She looks almost black.

Thank you Laurie we do love our doodles don't we.

I went to your page and went to the very last one to see if you have any Fudge "baby" pictures...the one on the last page she is little, probably around 4 months do you have any younger like this one of D at 9 weeks?

Charlie (my two-year old doodle) is just slightly darker than Chase.  It seems like the lightening started in the back - his tail is very light and his head is still pretty red/dark. I wonder if their heads will also lighten in time, or if we'll just have tye-dye doodles?  :)  I absolutely love the "new" color, but am interested to see if that's his final color or if he'll continue to change...
