Veterinary Emergency Center - South

The Jubilee is a community-wide pet festival to learn more about how to keep your pet happy and healthy! Booths dedicated to rescue organizations, various working dog groups, non-profit pet organizations, and family veterinarians will be present for your enjoyment! There will be food, and family fun, such as face painting, Kidz corner, dog pools, and more.  Others include Teddy Bear Repair Station (bring your injured teddy!), pet murals, pet photography, and pet costumes.  There will be more than 18 groups there, and more than 14 area veterinarians presenting on petcare.  Pet contents to include largest, smallest, greyest muzzle and tail wagging.


June 4, 2011 10:00am - 5:00pm Ashland Strawberry Faire
Randolph-Macon College, Ashland, VA
The Ashland Strawberry Faire in historic Ashland, Virginia, is a tradional celebration to promote the community and feature the strawberry harvest. The Faire is usually on the first Saturday in June, held on the streets adjacent to the Randolph Macon College campus. The Faire is a free, community and family-oriented event during which non-profit groups and churches raise funds and offer something for everyone. There are vendors selling arts, crafts, plants, and antiques to the many thousands who attend the event.

The Canine Carnival will be a celebration of dogs and the joy they bring to people’s lives. Enjoy an afternoon of fun, contests and events for dogs and their owners! Admission will be $5 for adults. Children 12 and under and all dogs will be admitted free.

In addition, booths for training help (including an ASK-THE-TRAINER, and AGILITY-101) where you can learn more about the courses offered in obedience (puppy, AKC STAR, Canine Good Citizen, basic as well as Novice, open, etc.) as well as Dog Show 101 about Conformation will be open. Bring your kids - bring your licensed/vaccinated dogs - Try out the Puppy Play Ground and/or learn more about Agility work! Contests, Prizes and Refreshments throughout the day. This Event will be totally Free of Charge, and is open to all members of the public.

Join us at the 9th annual ChesterFest for a day jam packed with FREE, family friendly fun, entertainment, events, and food. Our theme for this year is GOOD OL' FASHIONED FUN.
The event includes games for all ages, with a large Kids Zone to include, NEW this year, a Tweens and Teens Zone, where the younger ones will learn and enjoy some old fashioned games. 
In an effort to bring the community even closer together, there will be Tug-O-Wars, sack, and three-legged races between our local police and fire departments; teachers from our schools; and our local service organizations.
We have a Fun Dog Show with awards for best costume, dog who looks most like owner, etc., with the entry fees and other Dog Show fundraising projects benefiting the Chesterfield County Humane Society. We will have crafters, vendors, and also new this year is a special Salute to our Troops area where everyone can sign a banner giving a special Thank You to our soldiers.

The Fredericksburg's Gone to the Dogs fair is Saturday, October 2, in downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia. Bring your friends, family, and all the animal lovers you know for this special event to benefit local animal welfare groups. You (and even your dog!) will enjoy live music, food, dog skills and demos, an adoption park with local rescued animals, and much more. The parade starts at 9:30 a.m., and activities will run from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Between three and four million animals die each year because they do not have a safe and loving home. These animals deserve a chance -- join us and your peers in Fredericksburg to help animals and support local adoption efforts. Wayne Pacelle, President & CEO of the Humane Society of the United States will be the event's Grand Marshall.

It began with a promise to raise awareness of canine cancer one mile, one city, and one person at time. Luke Robinson with his two dogs walked 2000 miles from Austin to Boston to fulfill the promise he made to his dog Malcolm who died from this horrible disease.
Be a part of history this November 7th as thousands in cities all across America join in on the promise to bring awareness to cancer.

Dog walk to support the therapy dog program (Dogs on Call), research, and educational activities at The Center for Human-Animal Interaction at VCU Medical Center.  Family entertainment will include a Richmond Police K-9 demonstration, a parade of Dogs On Call teams, music, face painting for children, pet-related vendors, NFL tailgate and jewelry raffles and much more! A special appearance will be made by Kings Dominion's Snoopy: America's favorite Beagle.

No steroid scandals in this sport. Watch man's best friend go paws to the wall to prove who is top dog! The competition features canines competing for distance, catching and fetching from a dock into a pool. It's an incredible new sport that everyone loves. All competition will be directed and announced by Milt Wilcox, President of ULTIMATE AIR DOGS.  Milt is a former Detroit Tiger pitcher and member of the 1984 World Series champions. ULTIMATE AIR DOGS is one of the premier dock jumping organizations in the country. $15 to enter, free to watch.

Leann, I think we may take you up on the offer. We haven't had a doodle romp in a few months. Let's figure out a good time. We have the Oct doodle walk coming up on the 24th at Stony Point.
