Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Banjo is 4 months old now and has grown SOOOO much!  He's already 22lbs and the vet thought he would double his weight!  We were surprised to hear this as the breeder said he'd be about 30-35lbs.  Just wondering what size other minis are.

According to the Australian Labradoodle Assoc.:
Currently there are three sizes of Australian Labradoodles during this stage of continued development, it is acceptable and expected to see inter size breeding at this time.

Sizes: Height: 14 to 24 (not over 25) inches (35cm to 63cm) at wither. Weight: 7kg to 30kg (15-65lbs).

Miniature range: Height: 14 to16 (not over 17) inches (35cm to 42cm) at wither.

Medium range: Height: 17 to 20 (not over 21) inches (43cm to 52cm) at wither. The ideal size for the female is 17 to19 inches and the male is 18 to 20 inches.

Standard range: Height: 21 to 24 (not over 25) inches (53cm to 63cm) at wither. The ideal size for the female is 21 to 23 inches and the male is 22 to 24 inches.
Thanks Nancy, I am assuming that this is good for Goldendoodles too?
I don't know actually. It makes sense that it might but..... There is a goldendoodle assn. I will check it out and post again.
According to GANA ( Goldendoodle Association of North America ):
Goldendoodle Sizes

The F1 standard size Goldendoodle was the first to be
bred. It is the product of a standard Poodle crossed
with a Golden Retriever. The typical mature weight is
50-75 lbs.

The F1 miniature Goldendoodle is the product of a
miniature Poodle crossed with a Golden Retriever.
They mature to 25-45 lbs. and have a 50% chance of
being non-shedding. The other 50% are typically very
minimal shedders.

The F1B miniature Goldendoodle is produced by
crossing an F1 miniature Goldendoodle with a miniature
Poodle. The mature adult weight is 15-30 lbs. These
dogs will have a higher success rate for non-shedding
(90%). We also breed F1B medium Goldendoodles by
crossing an F1 standard Goldendoodle with a mini
Poodle. These pups will mature to 20-40 lbs. This is
ideal for those needing an F1B for allergy reasons but
prefer the F1 mini size.

The F2B mini and medium Goldendoodle is the product
of an F1B Goldendoodle and an F1 Goldendoodle. The
world's first litter arrived on 3/23/06 and the second on
5/28/06. We have the most variety of coat types in this
generation ranging from curly like an F1B to wavy like
an F1 to flat like a Golden Retriever. Reports to date on
non-shedding are very promising. About 90% are
non-shedding.

The F3 mini and medium Goldendoodle is the product
of two F1B Goldendoodles or an F1Goldendoodle and
an F2B or F3 Goldendoodle. This generation is new and
we hope it will prove to have even more success with
complete non-shedding.

The F3 standard is being produced by crossing an F2B
and an F1B Goldendoodle. See our photo gallery for
our first F3 standard litter.

Another website had this to say about height:
Height:
13"-21" (Mini), 20"-24" (Standard)

Weight:
25-45 pounds (Mini), 45-75 pounds (Standard)

I guess what this means is that the focus is on weight for F1's: standard and mini only. Then mediums appear after the first generation. Perhaps goldendoodles haven't been around long enough to have consistent height standards?
Thank you so much for the information! I really appreciate it. So far, it seems that my Cooper is going to maintain his "mini" status.
My 2 year old mini is about 20 pounds and my 8 month old mini is about 8 pounds. She is estimated to reach between 10 and pounds. Both my minis are sisters with the same mother and father but from different litters. In my 2 year old's litter the range as adults is from 7 pounds to 27 pounds! My 8 month old has a sister that is already over 18 pounds!
Our Mini Goldendoodle, Veruca, is an F1b. She weighs just under 30lbs. She is actually a little smaller then I thought she would be, she has the poodle long legs and looks a lot fuller when her coat is in.

We have 2 F1minis. Our 4 yr old is with a miniature poodle and they said she would be 30-35lbs. She ended up at 25lbs.

Our 2nd one was with a toy poodle and she ended up being 15lbs at 3 yrs. You just get more doodle to love!! Our 2nd was as dar as Banjo is as a puppy and she ended up being very blonde!

Jennifer....Banjo is an F1 goldendoodle and at 14 months he weighs in at 45lbs.  He's been this weight for several months now.   According to the GANA that Nancy posted above he is right at the very top of the range for goldendoodle mini.   Sounds like your girls are one the lower end.  That's one thing I really love about this breed is the variety of size, color and coat!
I know, we see so many varieties. You never know what you are going to get!! But it's impossible not to love them no matter what!
mine is five years old and is 27.5 pounds of pure love.  The breeder estimated he would be about 15 pounds.....HA!  There seems to be a theme here LOL either that or we are overfeeding our doodles  :o)
Wow...Lucia looks a lot like Banjo - though Lucia is a little more curly than Banjo.  She is a F1 and almost a year old.   Right now she weighs in at about 43 lbs.  She was the biggest in the littler when we got her - but we picked her because she was the sweetest.  We love her so much!
