Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi all! I'm just curious if anyone has spent any time around Doodle mixes that aren't as popular on this site? I know there's plenty of great info here for Lab, Golden and Aussiedoodles, but we're considering looking at other options for our second dog. My DH says he can't handle another Labradoodle, he thinks Bernie is too unique and perfect, it wouldn't be fair to LD number two!

I want to stick with Doodles because of my allergies. But don't worry, I know no breed is a sure thing!

Anyhow, I appreciate your collective opinion!

This poor thing looks like it doesn't have any legs.
The one I saw looked like a wrinkly dachshund!!!  It looked nothing like cute poodle curls!!!
LOL That is HILARIOUS!!
What a goofy little guy! You're right, poodly with no legs! I'd squeeze him =)
I see in my area on petfinder a poodle / dachshund mix that has been on there for about 6 months!!!!  It's so sad =(  No one wants him!
Now I can't find him!!!!  I knew that was going to happen!!!  I was going to post his picture, but now he's gone!  Maybe someone adopted him!  He looked like a wrinkly dachshund.
Hopefully he was adopted! It's not his fault someone had a crazy idea. Poor lil guy =)

My family had a Cockapoo in the 60's  (how long ago was that!)  Her name was Honey Bun and she was very sweet!

Actually, I've been curious about Sheepadoodles -- Old English Sheep Dog / Poodle.  I've never met one, but they look very cute.

Yes!

UGH!  There is a puppy mill here in Colorado that breeds Sheepadoodle.  Run, do not walk from this mix.  They may be cute as puppies, but they are matting machines with very difficult to care for coats.  Also, based on a conversation I had with an owner of one, she described her Sheepadoodle as disconnected and independent.  I can't imagine what this mix offers other than Parti color patterning.

Think about this...  Stanley Coren's The Intellence of Dogs ranks the Poodle as #2 most intelligent and trainable breed.  The Old English is ranked #63 (only 79 breeds were ranked).

Unless you LOVE Old English Sheep dogs...I see no reason to go for a sheepadoodle vs. an LD or GD.  The only visible difference is the parti coloring which you CAN get in LD's and GD's.
I knew that DKers would be knowledgeable and have input on Sheepadoodles.  As I mentioned, I think they are cute, but that's not a good reason to purchase one.
