I'm Heading Back To The Vet With Murph

Well Murphy's diarrhea is under control, and now there's a new crisis. About a week ago I noticed that Murph was occasionally licking at his "anal area". I noticed it a few times and thought he might be sore from all the diarrhea. Then a couple days ago, he started doing it often, and it was getting inflamed. So yesterday I took him in for a bath thinking that would soothe it. Well last night and all morning he's constantly at it, and now it looks very sore and raw. I have no idea what this is all about, but I called the Vet and she wants to see him this afternoon. It really seems to be driving him crazy....poor guy. Has anybody experienced this? Guinness is also having an IBS episode (probably stress from his bath yesterday)...woke up to diarrhea all over the foyer and kitchen and vomit under our bed. Looks like time for a new foyer rug and time to get the "green machine" cranking in the bedroom. This has not been a good week for Doodles in our house.

We hope you are feeling better now knowing that the problem is Murphy's Anal Glands. You deserve "Doodle Mom" of the year for taking Murphy to the Vet. If you didn't get Murphy to the vet, his anal glands could have become impacted and could have caused infection. Some of the web sites on anal glands relay pretty horrific stories about anal glands.

I'm sorry to hear that. I guess this is the kind of thing I need to be prepared for one day with Sophie. I hope you have pet insurance! Feel better soon Murphy!
