Murphy tends to be afraid of odd things.  He was in Petsmart for the umpteenth time and noticed the huge dog statue opposite the checkout line. He started his deep growl but I intervened before he went into  full bark mode. We got out of line walked around the store and got back in a different line. But he was ever vigilant and spotted the offender.  And just in case that wasn't enough, did you know that there is a giant dog and cat hanging from the ceiling???!

What odd things frighten your doodle? (Of course there was that statue in Austin)

Funny stuff.  tonight DH picked up the empty plastic bag that yesterday held 30 lbs of Montys favoritate food. he brought the empty  bag out to the deck to read the ingredients.  Well you would have thought Monty was being attacked by  his own empty dog food bag! silly doods.
I love Vern, wish he was close enough to give him a big hug.  Quincy used to be afraid of the vacuum and would go about 4 feet away to get around it, he's over it.
Funny, Vern is not at all afraid of the vacuum and never has been. Silly doodle. Fudge used to hate the Swiffer mop, but she is over that too. She still is afraid of hair dryers and that doesn't bother Vern either.  Vern is always ready for a hug!!
Murphy is still afraid of the vacuum...and the broom and the dust buster. Loves the hair dryer.
Murphy and Vern need to grow a pair of somethings....LOL. I am so glad to see that Vern is in good company.

Excuse me but didn't you have those removed at the vet?

LOL. Yes, but now I think he needs them back :)

Fortunately they are such big guys no one will mess with them. :-)
That is too funny Linda.  Gracie Doodle is pretty much not afraid of anything as long as it hasn't just appeared out of nowhere.  I took her to Petsmart with me once about a year ago and for the very first time ever, she looked up and saw the hanging dog with the big ball.  He was over the dog food aisles and Gracie refused to go down the aisle with me.  She is not a barker but she gave out a few that day!  I can't tell you how many times she has been there with me and never noticed it!  Such a funny girl!
Thank you Gracie Doodle. I am glad some one else noticed the dog!

Monty is being trained for a therapy dog, so he gets to go with me everywhere. I have never seen him really scared, just unsure and guarded with some things. At the same time, he is incredibly curious about "scary" things.

During the Christmas time, people put snowmen and other stuff in their front yards. Of course, they were not there earlier, so Monty would growl at a poor huge snowglobe in front of someone's yard and would stretch his body like a frog to get his nose closer to it, but at the same time stay away from it as far as he could with his body. Hilarious.

We were at Costco the other day and there was a life-size cutout of a guy (can't remember what product it was supposed to sell). Monty stiffened as soon as he saw the cutout and he started his deep growl, but at the same time his hind legs were planted and the front of his body was stretching out towards the cutout to get a sniff. It made people around us laugh.

Another odd thing that made him uncomfortable just last week: we were at a dog park and here comes a man with a babt carrier on his back with a baby in it. Monty loves babies, but for some reason he could not comprehend why the man has a big hump on his back. He would stay away from the guy and kept barking at the "hump" even though he would wag his tail at the guy. There was no way I could make him come near, though.

You were in Costco with Monty?  I'm surprised they let you in Costco because they sell food?  How did you pull that off?  Just curious.
