We went to the vet again with Huff on Wednesday for his ears (It was the tenth day of using the ear drops and it didn't seem like it was completely gone). A different vet was there this time and he said that it might be an allergy! He said that some dogs are even allergic to human skin! Weird isn't it? Another thing he said was that it might be from him not having enough trace elements in his food. We don't feed him dog food so he gets chicken, rice, vegetables, and potatoes. He said that we should give him the innards of the chicken and maybe add some canned dog food. So since then, we have been adding a half a can of dog food in his dinner and adding the innards of the chicken. He also gave us some more ear drops and a special ear cleaner. Oh and guess what? I learned that a chicken doesn't chew it's food, it goes into this sack when they swallow it, so it can be crushed and then they can digest it. Gross, isn't it? haha. We put that sack in his dinner too. Grosss...... the vet also said that if it doesn't get better in a week or so, we should eliminate all treats from his diet to see what he is allergic to. Huff said that if we have to do that, we might as well just euthanize him.....

Is this going to cure Huff's aversion to French Bulldogs too??? LOL
Hopefully!:) haha

As an allergy sufferer, I feel your pain, Huff.  Hang in there!

P.S.  Yes - that is grosssssss about chickens!

Thanks:) He actually seems like he feels better yesterday and today.

Ah Huff!  Hope you get things cured, cuz life without treats just ain't worth livin'!  Hey wait a minute, maybe your treats will be little pieces of chicken.  Now that would be a great!

Your pal, Gavin

Hey gavin its Huff that would be great now that I think of it, but a life without beggin or jerky is a  sad life.
After Sedona had a bout with itchy ears, we started giving her an Omega 3 caplet each day.  She finishes her dinner, then "asks" for her "allergy medicine".  It may be a coincidence, but since she started on the Omega 3, she hasn't had a problem with her ears.  You may want to give it a try.
We feed Huff fish oil every night in his food. Ha has never had this issue before.
Poor Huff... So where do you buy innards??  You may want to ask Karen in the Food Group about this.  Rosey tried restricted diet and it didn't help so we are feeding Orijen.  Other then probably a bit itching her ears she is fine.  She would rather itch than starve too!!
We just buy the whole chicken from the grocery store. I would feed him better kibble if he was on kibble but alas he hates kibble.
We've been going through the same thing with Murphy's ears.  My vet thinks it's probably an environmental allergy....versus food.  Did your vet say anything about that?  Just wondering because I've been following Huff's ear issues since it's so similar to Murphy.  I know the Vet mentioned the potential for "human skin" as a potential culprit, but then it seems like he/she went right to the food.  It's so interesting to me how different vets have such vastly different views on these things.
He mentioned that it could be enviornmental but we are checking to see if its his diet first.
