Black & Grey Doodle

Hi! Our Goldendoodle will soon turn 2 this month.Her Dad was a black & white parti standard poodle ( Mom a Golden) . Bella was black at birth with a white patch on her chest & chin. This past couple of months she has really changed color ! Her face is almost all grey now and all 4 legs are a greyish white. Her back is still black with some very prominent white hairs mixed in. She is a beauty, but I have found it hard to get a good picture of her to show her true coloring....hard to believe eh? LOL

From what I read this is a type of phatom coloring I think. Antony else out there know or have a doodle with mixed  ( or grey ) coloring?

Has anyone had a colorchanging pup that started his/her change with a brown face?

 

BB started at 9 weeks nearly all black with a small white chest stripe, but now his face seems to have some reddish brown tinge to it. I've also noticed a few stray white hairs on the bottoms of his feet by his pads. I wonder what he'll look like!

Last summer Bandit got these reddish brown highlights on his body and face.  But thru winter he is back to jet black.  He is 15 months and still no sign of gray.  I hope he stays black...

Mya is still jet black. I was hoping she'd grey up like Ann's Sheba,but no. Mya has a few white hairs in her back but thats it. Shes 16 months now ,I don't think her color will change now.  When did yours start to change color?

Bella was amost 2 before she really started to change color.She also had white hairs on her back .

My 5 month old goldendoodle seems to be turning grey overnight.  I recently found a white patch behind his ear.  Now his front paws  hind legs & muzzle are greying.  Is this his puppy fur changing into "teen" hair? I know doodles change color but I didnt think it would happen this soon, especially since Axl's father is a jet black standard poodle.

Yep, your pups brother (BB) is also turning grey very quickly. I trimmed him up for summer (BB is ALWAYS hot), and his paws have so many white speckles coming through he is clearly grey. His back is mostly black still, but his face has dark brownish color. I very much wonder what he'll look like when he's fully grown.

it didn't even occur to me that Axl might turn gray before he became a "senior" dog.  The breeder's pictures of her full grown black doodles were all jet black.  But then again, we were more concerned about hair texture than hair color.  I did notice Axl has some brown along his spine, but i noticed it in the POURING down rain so that could've be an illusion.  We haven't trimmed Axl yet but he is always hot too, panting, thirsty, lays on the floor vents.  Must run in his family!
