its like a never ending story.

When I got Trixie 11 days ago ...she was going frequently & I asked about that...Some stools were a little loose.  but nothing too bad.

Then her stools firmed up & she started going less...And also started getting distracted & not going when she had to.

Today she started the day with 2 firm poops.

This afternoon I smelled a fart & decided she must have to go...She was sleeping.  I actually woke her up- carried her outside.  Put her down & all poop let loose!   diarrhea.

She went again.  I gave her more time..Seemed like she was done.

Brought her in & she started crying 5 minutes later...brought her out...Nothing.

My daughter came over about 30 minutes later.

She let Trixie out & she peed.

We were upstairs ...Trixie walked away from us & it just started dropping out of her!

I picked her up & ran her outside...But she didnt have to go anymore.

She is on the same food she was on at the Breeders.

She has a Bully stick that she has had for 1 week.  She gets to chew it 1-2 times a day for 15 minutes ( I wont give that to her for now)

I gave her deworming meds on Saturday...Could that give her diarrhea this many days later?

So.

What do I do?

What would you suggest I feed her tonight...Or skip dinner? : (

I know she needs to drink water.

Tips for cleaning up carpet?

Thanks

She could still be adjusting to the household. These pups go through a lot of adjustment the first couple weeks (separation, anxiety, new home, etc). I would call the vet and bring in a stool sample to check for bacteria. Start her on boiled chicken and rice with a little PURE canned pumpkin (not pie mix) (about a TBS).

Nature's Miracle is a great cleaner. Also I know people are raving about that Bissel Spot Bot..or something like that:)

Good luck

Thanks Gin & Carla,

I had my Daughter pick up some Pumpkin before she had to go to work.  I did call the vet & he does want a stool sample.  I will have dh do that after work.

Good...hopefully she'll feel good in a day or 2. My furry kids LOVE the chicken, rice and pumpkin!!!!

Nothing to add to the good info you've gotten except to say I hope your baby girl is feeling better sooooon. :-)

OH NO!!  Poor puppy! Poor YOU!    Ugh- I'm going through the same thing!   It's been a week since we've been gradually switching over to Orijen- yesterday i gave them 100% of it.    I've learned from others here to give a spoon of yogurt to help with their digestive system-  it helped the last time i did that.

I hope tomorrow is a better day.

Thanks for all your replies.

Vet checked her stool sample & all was ok.  We bought a couple cans of the bland diet- since it was easier as I had no Hamb or chicken here.  I fed her a little bit of that with some pumpkin around 6 last night.

We made it through the night!  We got her up 4 times to go out...She is not one to let us know she has to go- even when she feels good.   She did not go once.

She has not gone since 5:30pm last night!

She did not sleep all that well.  Poor pup is starving.  I fed her more blanned canned with a little pumpkin ...She was crying to eat...And sat at her empty dish when she was done : (

So I gave her a little more.   She is sleeping at my feet now under my chair. (her favorite spot)  poor baby.

Are we out of the woods already?  Or is that Pumpkin such a miracle worker...That its just plugged everything up?

I think  the blanned Canned I have will last about 2-3 days.

Aimee I hope Storm feels better soon!

I would make sure she poos ok today, then start mixing small amounts of kibble back in over the next 2-3 days. You can still add the pumpkin to the kibble.

To keep pumpkin on hand, I put a Tbs in ice cube trays, then freeze and put them in a plastic bag after they are frozen. If their stools are a little soft I pop 1 out of the freezer, zap it in the microwave for maybe 10 seconds and mix it in their food. They love the taste!!

Check out the Food Group...there's a lot of discussion about pumpkin and yogurt.

Aimee....hopefully Storm is feeling better too.

After having these dogs we can all become certified in "poopology":-)

Storm & Ayla are doing way better today!    Yesterday i gave  a TBSP of yogurt for each of them, and also this late morning.      I will be sure to try frozen canned pumpkin  next time!   Thanks so much!

I hope she's doing better today-    how often do you give the pumpkin?

Pumpkin does wonders for BB. Its not cheep, but we had a poo scare early on too, and are very pleased with the stools we are getting now. I think we tried to transition BB too quickly with too much stress (that and he was just coming off of "preventative" antibiotics). But he tomorrow is his first day back on solid food (w/pumpkin). It took him over a week to get back to normal 100% on the bland diet (we did boiled chicken and boiled rice). Then we SLOWLY (over about a week) transitioned him back to his normal food. I think we'll keep up with the pumpkin for at least another week, or longer. We also are feeding him about a tblspoon of yogurt daily. It is his FAVORITE treat, he LOVES IT (and it is the plain/unsweetened kind). We froze it into a little cube, and its probably his favorite food.I think that is important because of coming off the antibiotics and needing some good bacteria back. I really dont think either is "bad" in the long term.

we do pumpkin at every meal.

Thanks Carla!   I'm glad to read about your experiences!        I love this site!!    My best (and only) doodle support ever!
