I know it doesn't seem like it's April, well technically we have a few hours, but it's here. The plan this month, cococted by a very small group of us, is to do macro photography. Pictures very close up of flowers--really there will be more or some soon, doodle parts or anything really. Sometimes if it's really close up the object is unrecognizable and if you have such a shot you might want to make us guess what it is. Let's aim for fun again but technical wizardry of any kind always welcome, especially if you explain it. Also let's try to get more people involved with ideas of what to do in future months.

Taylor...just remember when shooting really close up to get the focus circle or indicator smack dab on what you want 100% in focus.  You got the eyelashes in focus and that is great.  The paw is blurred.  When  you macro you usually have a very shallow depth of field so at times not all of the entire paw will be in focus...pick one pad to focus on!  You almost got it on the center pad!
Look at those eyelashes.  Great!
Gorgeous eyelashes!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the lashes....beautiful.

I love the flowers, would love them more if they were in my yard.  HA  I woke up to snow this a.m.  Talk about April Fools.

What is Macro, is that what you use for this up close?  sorry if this is stupid, you all are so much more advanced.  I love taking pics and take tons of them, but nothing in the quality that you all do.

Here is an explanation.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macro_photography

Often cameras have a specific macro setting, usually marked by a flower-like symbol.

Thanks!!!  I don't have a super nice camera, but I do have that function.  I have one of them little Canon PowerShots.

Wonderful photos everyone, I love the flowers and doodle body parts!!  Here is my submission. I took this photo on a hike at Zion National Park in Utah. I wish the photo of the water drip was a little sharper.  Ann

I really like this, so sharp and the water dripping down.
Thanks F.  I had to take quite a few photos to catch the drip.  When I was working at Honda I had to use macro now and then to take pictures of engine parts.  I had a really hard time taking a good photo with the cameras at work.  OK..I admit it, I was terrible at taking photos back then.  : )  Ann

Nice Ann / Mike

I tried mud this morning and it was blurry.  This will be a good month to learn some tricks on Marco

At least you have mud not snow and no blurry mud pictures allowed : )
