Doodle Groomer in New York or Western Connecticut

We have an Australian Labradoodle who is only 17 weeks old, but I would like to find a groomer now so that when the time comes we know where to go! We live in western CT, near the NY border, and are looking for a groomer in that area. Willing to travel up to 30 minutes away, either in NY or CT. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

I am looking for the same thing.  Kona is 9 mos and needs his first haircut but I do not want them to take away his teddybear look.  Have you found anyone you like?

Actually, we did...ourselves! We bought clippers and after a few trial and error cuts, we got the hang of it! I do bring him in to get professionally groomed twice a year just to get him clean and really brushed out, though. I recommend learning to do it yourself, but if you want to bring him in, I recommend 2 places:

1. Purr-fect Pooch in New Fairfield.

2. Beau Chien in Danbury

Both are good, but Purr-fect Pooch is much less expensive. For his next cut I am going to try Four-Paws in Danbury which came highly recommended and they frequently have coupons in the Pennysaver for 25% off the first grooming. Of the two places listed above, both listen to exactly what you want. I brought pics the first time and was, admittedly, a little crazy about how I wanted him to look, but they do listen. One complaint I have is that no matter how many times I ask, they never clean his ears. They are supposed to tweeze the hair out and then wash the ears. Neither place ever does, which is quite annoying. I end up doing it myself, hence why we groom him ourselves anyway! No one can do exactly what you want except for you. Plus, you save $$.
