There have been tons of discussions on just about every subject regarding puppies on DK. I say join as many groups as interest you and start with the puppy group and the food group. Lots of good advice in both those groups. Welcome and enjoy your puppy!

READ AS MANY DIFFERENT TRAINING BOOKS AS YOU CAN! Read them now, you won't have time later.

Find a variety of things that are safe and appropriate for the puppy to chew on.

Read this site backwards and forwards. Do lots of searches.

The Power of Poisitive Training by Pat Miller.

How to raise the perfect dog: through puppyhood. Ceaser Milan

I second that!  I read that Caesar Milan book (as well as a few of his other ones awhile back) and the Monks of New Skete puppy book.

I also recommend getting the nice quality items for your puppy from the get-go.  We got several cheap things we ended up needing to replace (e.g. a cheap bed with a zipper that our puppy was able to get into, a cheap leash that was painful for us to hold and she chewed through anyway).

Nature's Mircale - get the huge jug and a couple of refillable bottles.

Get a crate that will fit your adult dog but has a divider to make it smaller for the puppy.

Oh yeah! I meant to put The Monks of New Skete on my read list. The art of raising a puppy and How to be your dog's best friend. Actually the breeder sends the How-to book to all of their new puppy parents. But truth be told the puppy one was better and it should have been read compleatly before even picking the puppy up.
Congratulations on getting your new Doodle!  I am getting my Australian Labradoodle the end of May and I am very excited!!  The only advice I can give you is STAY ON THIS FORUM!!  You will learn so much valuable information from owners who are here to give us 'newbies' great advice.  I also agree that you should read as many books as you can before you bring your puppy home.  I'm on book #3 and I have another to read when I'm done with that one.  Welcome to Doodle Kisses!
Join the Grooming, Food and Puppy Madness groups.  These three groups will help you get off to a good start.
Savor every puppy moment, they grow so fast! Oh yeah and stock up on paper towels...

Set up rules the first step in the house.I know they need all the shots and vetting, but it's so important to get them socialized. Bring family, friends over. Warn them of the sharp teeth and the love bites. Expose them to as much as possible, loud noises, car drives, wearing leashes even in the house.Use the pet carrier for sleeping, do the every two hour potty trips out side.Don't give them the run of the house. Confine them to rooms at a time. That way you can keep an eye on them and let them out when needed. They do sleep  (Nap). Get them used to brushing and water, bathing. Strollers, bikes, walkers.Even larger dogs so they don't become intimadated when play time comes. Always use positive reinforcement...you don't want  to scare them. I find the nipping is the hardest thing to over come right now, Good Luck and enjoy gwen

Wilbur is a F1B too.

PS. Start now looking for a pre school for the puppy training. I'm having the most difficult time finding one I want. The STAR AKC Puppy class is best and leads to futher training if that is what you are looking for..

Thank you everyone for your overwhelming advise! I appreciate everyone’s suggestions. I have read Barron's Goldendoodle A Complete Pet Owners Guide but I will certainly get on the ball and start reading some of the training books you all recommended! :o)

Congrats!! I couldn't live without our puppy now... but there was a BRIEF time period in the first couple days that I thought "what was I thinking."  That passed fast but when you're in the middle of the yelping and peeing it's hard to see past it (especially if it's your first pup and it was for us.)  So be patient-- this to shall pass!  I wish I would have found this site earlier... b/c the people on here are so helpful. We were feeling our way through blindly and it would have been great to have this support system when you are wondering, "is this normal or should i be concerned?"  Join the puppy group!

Good luck!

Ditto...first few weeks were like "what the he&*()???"...pretty soon after and 2 years later, I am slightly, just slightly obsessed with my mini goldendoodle!!! She ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome Breanne & Dave!

I can not thank you all enough for your helpful advise!
