Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Melissa of Porter and I were recently discussing what sign we would hang in our entry if we wanted to instruct our arriving guests how to "behave" in our homes-especially in regard to interacting with our doodles.

Melissa's was:

"If you are female please shower the dog in the armchair with attention

If you are male please ignore the dog until your third visit"

Mine would be:

"Please remove your shoes and keep your hands at your sides"

Okay, the SHOE part is for me but "hands at your sides" is because people waving their hands about seem to trigger some friendly "spaz out and attack" mechanism in Tara.

What would your sign say?

Hi Kate, nothing to do with "signs' but I have a doodle and a 4 year old that are about the same size.  I mean Dublin can jump on my 4 year old daughters shoulders and just bring her to the ground.  He has done in so many times.  The turn around and hold and fold  just DOES NOT work.  We are interested in the clicker training but just not sure how to start or when to start.  Dublin is (wow I just mistakingly told someone else the wrong age of him) 5 months tomorrow.

Welcome!  You are entering a dog house, but they let people live with them and they like visitors.

This reminds me of Hondo who could shift his weight and open the large sliding glass door.  When someone would come into the house and he was outside, he would come in to meet them.  It would frighten a lot of people when they would see a 105 pound dog open the door and run to greet them.

I like your sign! It is SOOOO true!!

Hondo sounds like he was a SMART boy! 105 pounds is a whole lotta luv!!!

This is not original, but I wouldn't mind hanging this sign on my door:

TO ALL NON-PET OWNERS WHO VISIT AND LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR PETS:

(1) They live here. You don’t.

(2) If you don’t want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. That’s why they call it ‘fur’-niture.

(3) I like my pets a lot better than I like most people..

Actually, I think my own sign would really say "Love me, love my dog"

I've seen that sign before too and have always like it! But I think "Love me, love my dog" pretty much says it all!!

LOVE that sign.  I have seen that one before, isn't it a little longer?  I would love to find it all, do you have it?

There are actually several parts. here's a link:

awesome, thanks for the link!

If it were a sign to hang around my or my doodles neck it would say:

"I am a golden retreiver poodle mix (goldendoodle), yes I am friendly, My name is Huff get that H-U-F-F"

People are always getting Huffs nameconfused with Puff so I spelled it out. And when we say goldendoodle they say "a what".

We thought about getting a shirt that says all this to put on Huff.

This would save you a lot of breath!! I know I get tired of repeating the same info over and over again about Tara too. Maybe we should make a recording to play!
Yes we should:) I get so tired of repeating it ever 5 minutes when we go out:)
Walk away from the dog until he forgets your there!
