We recently purchased bully sticks from BestBullySticks.com.  Both of our doodles were not acting their normal selves this morning after having the bully sticks last night.  Olivia looked like she was drunk or drugged and Sydney had major problems from both ends.  Lots of vomitting on our Persian Rugs all night and this continued from both ends for about 10 hours until we got a Vet appointment.  Blood work is being done and she was given an anti-vomiting shot, an antibiotic shot, and we need to watch her for the next 12 hours before we check with the vet.  We thought bully sticks would help clean their teeth.  Perhaps a Dental cleaning would have been more cost effective.  Our Vet told us that he is getting lots of dogs with bad reactions from Bully Sticks due to salmonella poisinging.  WE ARE SO SORRY OUR LITTLE SYDNEY WE THOUGHT WE WERE DOING SOMETHING GOOD FOR YOU!

aw, I'm so sorry to hear this. It's heartbreaking when you know your baby is in any discomfort and there's nothing you can really do to help. Give them lots of hugs and kisses and hopefully they'll feel better soon.

Lola says "woof" = "feel better soon"

I am so sorry to hear of Sydney's problems. Things happen and there isn't always a good explanation. Hope she's completely better soon.
Thanks to all for your get well wishes!  Sydney does not seem comfortable afte the anti-nausea shot.  It may be a long night.  We will be calling the Vet first thing in the morning.

Just checking up...how are your babies doing??? I hope there's some good news!!!

Hope Sydney is better soon!
We recently ordered the odorless bully sticks from bestbullysticks as well.  Fortunately, we have not yet experienced the issues that your poor dogs are going through.  I did call them to see if they have had any reports regarding salmonella or just adverse reactions and they of course explained how their bully sticks are tested and FDA approved and do not contain salmonella.  Hopefully the blood tests will explain this.  We'll keep our fingers crossed that it's just the high protein content that caused some upset and nothing more severe.  Definitely keep us posted and I hope they feel better soon.

I've been buying bully sticks from BestBullSticks.com for almost a year and have not had that issue. I generally purchase a 25 pack of the ordorless/low ordor thick ones. Bella is a huge chewer and we have to reorder every 6 weeks or so. It's time to reorder again but I think I'll wait to hear if there are salmonella issues. Hope Olivia and Sydney are feeling better. Please update when you can.

You never said, that I can find, whether Sydney had salmonella poisoning - is she okay?
We order the odorless from them also. Jelly has occasionally had loose stools after the sticks. Please post if it was actually salmonella as I need to reorder or find something else for her to chew on.....
This is terrible news!   How are your Doodles doing now?  Do you have a definitive answer about the samonella poisoning from the bully sticks?   I order them too from Best Bully sticks. It is one treat that my Cooper can tolerate and loves!   I keep the extras in the freezer to prevent them from spoiling.   Don't remember where I read that tip.
Sorry I didn't get back about the possible salmonella from the bully sticks since we were back and forth to the Vet, Animal hospital and finally Internal Specialist for nine days.  Sydney was very sick first with vomiting, then diarrhea (blood in diarrhea), was kept overnight on IV and not eating for over a week.  She started eating a few days ago is still on 4 different meds and is sleeping most of the day.  It's almost 2 weeks since we gave Sydney the bully stick.  The Vet and Specialist both seemed to think the bully stick could have caused the start of this episode.
