Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I am keeping a female from my most recent litter and have purchased a soon-to-be born male. This got me thinking about fun doodle names. My favorite is "Mulch." The family chose this name because the puppy's father was "Woody" and his brother was "Twigs." They said they would name a future female puppy "Loam." What interesting names have you run across?

Kiama is a seaside town in New south Wale in Australia not too far south of Sydney very popular holiday place, the main attraction used to be a large blowhole in the rocks.
Knowing that, makes the name even more interesting. Thanks.
P.S. Kiama comes from an Aboriginal word meaning 'Where the sea makes a big noise' probably refering to the blowhole, can also be 'where mountain come to the sea.
Thank you again, Valma. My guess is you could offer many unique doodle names to the discussion.
Love the name! I already have two ALD's if I get another, Kiama will be high on the list as I live on Mount Desert Island in Maine - where the mountains meet the sea!
Hi Patty - I have an AL that I think has a "cool" name. :) I named her Onycha. (I prounounce it like Monica w/o the "M".) I found it while doing a study on the Tabernacle at church. Apparently Onycha is one of the fragrance ingredients used in the sacred Holy Incense. I also had a cat named Cassia that was also an ingredient. It's similar to to cinnamon & used in the same manner, but has a more delicate flavor.
Thanks Crystal. I like the name and, in particular, its origin. Appreciate you sharing.
So how did Fionn Mac Cumhaill, (AKA Finn - BDITW) aquire his fantastical name? Fionn Mac Cumhaill is Ireland's equivalent to Avalon's King Arthur. Like Arthur, Fionn was a great leader. Mac means son of, Cumhaill means cool and Fionn means white or fair. Since our hero, and cool little white dog, son of the fair Latte came from Avonlee, we thought the name most fitting!
Finn has many nick-names of course, the main one being Finnigan (as in There was an old man called Michael Finnigan, he had whiskers on his chinnigan. Chuff-Chuff; because of the noise his scaggy feet make as he toddles along the corridor carpet especially. Puppa-doo; an amalgamation of puppy-doodle. And then there's Finny, Finbar, Mr. Finnigan...Fnn answers to all his name, and then some.
Neat isn't it? There are many wonderful stories concerning Fionn Mac Cumhaill; legend has it he was raised in a secret and magical wood, and with a fairy element (practically true of our pup in all areas.) Fionn had 2 faithful and protective hounds, humans in a previous life. Well, Annie and I are Finn's b@#$%es, so with a little role reversal, that works! As well, Fionn could see into the future, a skill he acquired from eating salmon. (Well now, Finny lurrrrrves salmon!) And, he captivated us via the internet, with his far-away look. He was clearly looking through the crystal balls that are his eyes and willing us to buy him.) So, there you go. Our cool little pup is Fionn Mac Cumhaill reincarnate!
Oisin is Fionn Mac Cumhall's son, it's pronounced Usheen and one of the names I'm thinking of for my puppy.
I'm thinking of Oisin for my puppy (pronounced Usheen) he was the son of finn Mac Coimhill.  Finn is a great name (but I can't use it because I know too many men with that name!)
Our dog's name is Bonzer. The kids think that Outback is an authentic Australian restaurant and they liked the bonzer tucker posters so it was either gonna be Bonzer or Tucker. We thought that Bonzer had less potential for rhyming abuse so we went w/ that.
