What are the benefits of the size doodle you live with and love. Miniature, Medium, Standard. I love my miniatures because when I relax in my easy chair each evening two or three can cuddle on my lap. My husband looks over at me and says, "Ah, it's a three dog night!"

Well, my not so miniature, 65 pound love bug cuddles on lap every chance she gets. In my opinion, the bigger she is, the more of her I get to love. The only time I don't like the fact that she's big is when she's a bad doodle and gets real dirty and I have to clean her. But otherwise, I love to be able to roll around on the floor with her and watch my kids roll around with her and she loves to roughhouse with my hubby, too! I love BIG doodles, but of course all doodles are awesome!
I love your comment, the bigger she is the more of her I get to love. Sounds like something my husband would say now that I am a chubby old lady!
Halas is a mini. When I was deciding on size, I was a little worried that a mini would be too small, because I usually like bigger dogs. But now I'm thrilled with his size. Here's how I sum it up. Halas is big enough to really hug, but light enough to carry.
This is the first time in my life I have had a large breed dog. I am surpised at myself that their are many asspects about her size I enjoy.............the biggest being that I only have to bend down the slightest bit to give her love, therefore I find myself loving on her many, many times a day:)
I so agree with this. Actually Fergie is a small standard - Only 45 lbs - and I have to bend a little more than I'd like - so, I don't care to much how big my next one gets.
So funny you ask this...I know I have said it so many times before but the sizes of doodles, even w/in their own "type" (mini/med/large) AMAZES me. My female is considered a large, but only about 45-50 lbs..... my male is considered a medium and I think will be close to my female in size.

Anyway - can't really come up with a reason I like them "larger" ....I guess just more to love and hug!! Also harder to trip over - well sometimes lol!!
Blake is the perfect "apartment" sized dog!...lol
My 65 lbs male doodle barks like a Rottweiler... he scares off most solicitors, so we never worry about strange people coming to our door any more! Little do they know that he's a pussycat, who also likes to think he's a lap dog ;)
For the Mini size: They can't counter surf. You can football carry if the need arises. Hold in your arms, like a baby. You can have them along in the car, and they take up very little room. They can walk along the back of the couch, to snuggle kind of cat like. They fit nicely on your childrens laps without sgooshing, and their pillows at night without taking up the whole bed. They fit nicely for Pet Assisted Therapy in their laps for good cuddle quality therapy (we are hoping to do this) Ummm, can't knock down the kids if they are still in the jumping up stage. Their size is no indication of the amount of Love they have, and I think their hearts are as big as any....I know I can come up with many, many more oh, poopie size! My 125 lab was like a horse, Brianna is like picking up after a dainty goose :)
Mr. Butter is 27 inch tall at the shoulder and almost 80 lbs. Every morning, he ran with me for 2 miles in about 40 minutes. When we get back home, I am tired but it seems nothing happened to him... I ride a bicycle with him 3 times a week for 4 miles in 40 minutes to tire him down, but he still seems fine when we get home.
Well...I never really thought of benefits vs. drawbacks. I just LIKE big dogs =)
I like their mass...more to love as someone else said =)
I am always worried I"ll squash small dogs or step on them and it makes me nervous when they run around quickly around me...toy size ones anyway...not just miniature size.
I like that I can touch Rosco when I'm walking him without bending over one inch...as we walk my fingers can brush against his back fur. =)
I'm not too sure about "benefits"...I just like big dogs. I have always liked big dogs. I think I have an aversion to small dogs because pretty much every one I have known has been "yappy"...and I hate that about dogs. I also like the feeling of safety I get while having a large breed dog with me, and I never have to wonder 'where' he pood...I can see it so I don't step in it! LOL And whenver I'm around small dogs, I feel like I'm going to step on them because it seems as though they're either under my feet or move quickly when I walk which makes me nervous I might step on them. We had a Lab and a Golden growing up, so I'm just used to big dogs...
