Best crate for auto travel?

We have a crate that's molded plastic, sized for a medium dog, and fits if I turn it sideways in my Prius. Has anyone found a crate that is sloped at the ends, so it would fit in a hatchback "lengthwise"? Or how do you keep your doodle safe when you travel by car?

We use car harnesses for our two.  If you do a search on "car harness" you should gets lots of previous discussions on them.  Our two just lay in the back seat buckled in.  They are close to us and happy as can be.
