should I cut my doodles hair this summer

I dont know if I should get Harvey cut this year he is five months old at the moment English weather isnt that hot but I just dont know I want to leave him this year and get it done next but my Husband thinks other wise any advise much welcomed...

I love the look of the long hair on doodles. I was hoping to be able to maintain Sheeba's long coat, but when her first spring time came around, we knew we had to have her coat cut short. She is much happier with short during the spring & summer months. Fall & winter we let her coat grow out. I had Sheeba's coat cut at the end of March, very short. It's already grown out quite a bit, so I don't have to worry about her getting sunburned.
