Connecting with like members

Hello Doodle Addicts

This has been on my mind and with Adinas discussion about "too many groups?"  I find the front page the most appealing to discuss issues and read blogs.  I would like find a simple way to connect with members like me. 

I now have over 2500 points on DK and I look forward to moving up to the next level.  You?  The way I find others like me is "a stab in the dark" Simply put,  I would like to find a way to CONNECT with others who are not in the top 50. No offense. Points dont reflect my addiction to my Goldendoodle.

Do you just want to connect with people that have the same amount of points as you have? If that is the case, someone else would have to help you because I don't know the answer as to how to find people with a certain number of points.

Im thinking that only the top dogs,  with 90 to 10 thousand points are advertised on DK.  Status seems to be important here because the top 50 Doodlers are shown.  As you know there are 7000 members on this site.  Feels a little lopsided.  I am working class and cant respond to all discussion or blogs but I am a loyal member here.  I think there are lots of people who are retired which can be on here more often than I.  Truly I beleive at this rate it would take me 20 years...LOL... In my heart I am in the upper eschelon just not on the scoreboard.

No discrimination, nothing wrong with the top 50...Read between the lines Caitlin, the top is shown,  can we make it to show the Doodle Curious-all  Doodle Fanatics-all  etc.  I would like to see every group and how many is in it.  Transparency,  through all the groups.

Do you mean you want all 7000 members to show up on the Leaderboard? I don't think that would even be possible.

Fanciers,  maybe group them together.

If  anyone beleives that the points dont mean a thing then do away with them.  There must be reasoning behind the point system or is it techie junk?

Kevin, there is nothing intentionally hidden from members about who has how many points. The Leaderboard was created by a 3rd party application of sorts that we purchased and then that company is no longer supporting the application. The way it was created only shows the top 50...this issue was not known until later. There is no way to scroll through pages of people who are below the top 50...it is not purposely hidden. Early on in the site's history there were several levels represented in the top 50 until more and more people reached higher and higher levels...and now they are all Hopeless Doodle Addicts. The main way we used the list is for the passing of the HDA Trophy.

I don't think anyone here is concerned with status or points. (And I can tell you that out of the top 20 people on the Leader Board, only 5 or 6 are retired. In fact, a couple of them are college students.)

There is no "upper echelon" here, and very few of us look at the "scoreboard". Some of us have just been here for years and accumulated points over a long time. None of us participates for the purpose of accumulating points. And nobody judges how much you care about your doodle by how many points you have, or judges your loyalty by how often you post.

I guess I don't understand what you're looking for here. What is it that feels "lopsided" to you? In any forum, there are some people who are more active than others. Do you mean that you're looking for people who are not active?

I think lopsided was the wrong word.  I am as active as anyone else here.

What is the purpose of showing the top 50 in your opinion?

I dont mean to start an argument at all to everyone who is reading this or to peave anyone.

I would like to see the status of members grouped together thats all

That is the meaning of this discussion.  Activity of most people generally seem to be have the same status

When I reach a status I would like to see others with the same.  Thats all folks!   Goodnight to all and to all a good night!

I just read your response to Caitlin. The Leaderboard only shows the 50 highest ranking members. When I joined, there was only one HDA, Adina, and everyone else was a lower "ranking"...Doodle Curious, Doodle Fanatics, etc. It was very pretty, all the different colored jewels, lol.

As time went by, though, a lot of people accumulated points and reached the HDA ranking. It hasn't always been solid stars on the board.
