Believe it or not Kathy.....I've thought about what a shame it is to "toss" Banjo's lovely fur after a good brushing!  So this doesn't surprise me!  : )

I am with you!! I always thought about stuff like this when I brush my Chow Chow. ( Oh, boy, he sheds!!) I don't think I want to wear the piece made of his fur, but sounds nice just for the keepsake.

Maybe I'm just a little weird, but I can't imagine myself wearing a scarf or mittens made out of my Doodles' fur.  It would just seem strange.

I actually googles this awhile ago, I would love some Quincy mittens, but the amount of fur you would need was staggering. If I saved all the brushing and clippings for the next 5 yrs I might have enough.

My groomer has a friend who makes things out of animal hair. She has been doing this for years. About 10 years ago she collected hair from my Scottish Fold cat and my mother had her make me a glasses case! I was a bit weirded out by it when she gave it to me. The groomer said she had a stocking hat made out of her dog's fur and she loved it. She said it really kept her head warm. This lady also makes bookmarks, keychains and other stuff. I never could bring myself to use the glasses case!

I save Lucy and Sophie's when I groom them in a big garbage bag and when it is full I take it to my Hair Dresser and she donates it along with all of her collections and sends it to the organization that makes the things to help in the oil spills.  I figure that is better than just tossing it out.    Every time I see these Alpaca people at craft fairs making things though I think how much it looks like what I get off of L&S.

I showed my daughters the web site, and told them that I wanted the teddy bear. They both said that it was gross. I said to one of them that I thought she wanted one of those gem thing, and she was explaining how the gem was different from fur... :-(  The other daughter said "Ok, whatever makes you guys happy...."
