Yikes, it was supposed to be done next Thursday but they called this morning and wanted to do it today because of a big surgery scheduled next Thursday.  So, in she went!  Mama is a nervous wreck!  She came through it fine and I'll be able to pick her up in a few hours.  Mostly now, I'm concerned about the 'after'.  I have 3 kids here, one with autism who is going to want nothing more than to remove that cone from her head!  10-14 days that thing has to stay on? double yikes!  I plan on her spending a lot of time in her crate tonight and hopefully I can keep him entertained and away from her!  Also going to try some boys underwear and a tshirt to see if that will keep her away from her incision.  She's my first girl dog so I'm not sure exactly where the incision is until I see her.  She's pretty determined when her mind is set to something though so we shall see!

It will be better tomorrow. Good luck
How is Luci doing??
She's sleepy, still a bit groggy this morning.  Her poor little face is so pathetic but she's doing good.  Incision all clean and neat with no swelling or anything.  She now has the inflatable collar in and seems much happier with it, though not thrilled.  Right now just watching her like a hawk to see if she can reach the incision with this collar on.
My breeder spay/neuters at around 7 wks old, so I don't have that experience, but Spencer managed to skewer himself with a stick in the groin area a few months ago.  He had to have light surgery to clean the wound out and get stiched up.  He had to wear an extra large cone for about 18 days!  I couldn't get a soft cone because he needed a big enough one so he couldn't get to his groin area.  We don't have small children, but we have another Doodle who is very smart and it only took her a half hour to figure out how to get the cone off Spencer when he got home from his surgery.  The cone has tabs around the neck area so we slipped his collar through those tabs to stablize the cone and keep Roxy from removing it.  We were given pain killers and I used those for the first three-four days to keep Spencer comfortable and keep him quiet.  He couldn't fit in his crate with the cone, so I had to keep the two pups separate unless I was watching them.  After a few days Spencer was feeling better and was moving around a lot more.  He started crashing into the walls and other things to try and get the cone off.  It was challenging for him to go potty because they use their noses and the cone would get in the way.  I would bend down and lift the cone up a bit in front so he could move through the house easier.  Its a challenge, but you have to keep them from the incision so they won't undo everything and have to go through it again.  I know how pittiful they look with that darn cone on, but you'll get through it.  I would remove it several times a day to give Spencer a break.  He couldn't reach his bone while his paws held it so he could chew it when the cone was on.  So sad!  So I'd take the cone off and have him lay next to me so I could pet him, keep him from the stiches, and he could chew his fav bone.  I wish you good luck.  If she fits in her crate with the cone on, keep her in the crate as much as possible.  Oh, also, when they start to heal, the stiches start to pull at their skin and this really causes them to itch...and they really want to get to the stiches.
Wow, sounds like lots of fun! She had a hard night because every time she tried to move, the cone crashed into the side of the crate, making all sorts of racket.  Hopefully, tonight will be easier for her with the inflatable collar.
Make sure your vet agrees with the inflatable collar.  I'm not sure where Luci's incision is, but because Spencer's was lower down in the groin area, he had to wear the LARGE plastic cone to insure he couldn't get to his stiches.
They said it was fine as long as she couldn't reach it.  Doesn't seem to be able to but I'm watching to see if she goes after it.  She's going to have to try for me to tell if she 'can'.  Her incision is high up, not near the groin area.
In her new collar with my daughters tshirt on.
Adorable fashion statement:) The collar looks small compared to Izzy's. Are you sure she can't reach anything?
Awww, she's precious. I'm glad she's doing okay!
I'll have to check into that collar for our Mollys surgery next Wednesday!
