Abby 4 month old lately has diarrhea for the last 2 or three days, mixed with regular stool between.
I think her appetite is fine and she drinks water.
She started comfortis flea medication about 2.5 3 weeks ago, suppose to be one of the sideffects.
How long can diarrhea go on before you see the vet???
Thank you

I agree--chicken and rice worked with our puppy as well. I did it for a few days and then slowly starting reintroducing his food. If the diarrhea doesn't clear up or it worsens, then call your vet.
Thank you everybody.
Marion: Try a little canned pumpkin mixed in with her food. That will sometimes work. If not the vet will probably give you an antibiotic specifically for the stomach. It does sound like it might be the medication. The only way to know for sure is take her completly off of it for a few days and see if the problem resolves. If so, then you can start her again on the medication. If the same thing happens, switch to something different. Good Luck, Donna
:) thanks, but the medication she takes, she only gets once a month.I don't know if she had a late effect.
I'm sure they are so many reasons for having diarrhea. Can you tell me a few??
I'm knew with dogs.
Make sure you are looking for blood in the diaherria. If you do, take her asap. My vet told me that if a dog has an upset stomach, mixing wet food in with her regular food helps. That is all know
I made the chicken with rice and carrots, she loved it so much.Hope she will eat her regular food.
I would say stick with the chicken and rice until her stools are back to normal, and then start mixing her regular food back in with it. Once you start mixing in her regular food back in with it, do it slowly...take about 7-10 days to get her back to 100% of her regular food. If she has regular stools on the chicken and rice, and then starts having loose stools again once you are mixing in her regular food, she is probably having a reaction to her food and you may want to think about switching her food.

We went through all of this with Brody when we were switching his food. If we went too quick, and added too much regular food...his stools got a little mushy again.

Good luck!
You might want to do a fecal exam to make sure he doesn't have some kind of bacterial parasite.....Giarddia (sp?)
