I think we've found a solution to the loose stool problem with our doodle!!!
I finally started to transition from TOTW to Wellness this past weekend.
I was strongly looking and leaning towards the Natural Balance-Synergy. However, when I went to buy it, I ended up with Wellness, after reading both bags and talking to the pet store owner. The NB was as little bit more pricey and it only had one flavor- which included chicken.
The Wellness has three different flavors, so I figured if she did well with Wellness, I would have more flavor options in the future for her.
Plus, my pet store offers the food guarantee- if our doodle didn't like or do well on Wellness, I could bring it back. So I purchased a small bag.
I started on Friday, transitioning from TOTW to Wellness.
...and I'm happy to report...PERFECTION. No loose stool, no accidents, no runny mess to clean up, no grass eating!! Molly has been having perfect stools since Friday afternoon, right after her last meal of the day!
Now... I'm not going to keep my hopes up tooo high, because I know if it IS Giardia and not just the food issue...then the loose stools will simply return. However, she's been doing great, she likes the food and going to the bathroom normally (about an hour after each feeding).
I am taking 2/3's of her food and putting it in her bowl with a spoonful of yogurt and a spoonful of pumpkin. Then for dinner I'm feeding her the other 1/3 just plain.
I'm THRILLED-but again trying not to get my hopes too high- I **think**hope** I've found a solution!!!!
I'm going to give her another week, we have a vet appt. this Saturday, if everything is still going great...I'll start to add treats back into her diet. Wellness has some nice little dry and moist treats. Plus, she'll be happy to have her peanutbutter kong back, I'm sure.
So, for others experience the horrible, messy, annoying loose stool issues...hang in there!!! I think maybe my Molly is just a dog that needs grains! However, we are still feeding our little guy TOTW, he is doing great on that food!! I guess each food and each dog is a case by case situation.
