Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
We became a guardian to Annie almost 2 weeks ago and she has been absolutely wonderful! We haven't had to even use a crate or any gates with her. She is a dream dog really. She's been well loved and live in the home of the breeder for 3 1/2 years. We are so fortunate.
Our only challenge initially was getting her to poop and pee because she was not used to going with a lead and was almost always off leash. I had to take her to an almost unused dog park to go off leash ( I was scared to death to let her off leash at the dog park, but she went potty right away when I did). At first she went 2 days without pooping until I got it figured out. Our vet invited us to come there to there fenced in area one evening and she pooped and peed within minutes of arriving. I was literally cheering... I was so worried I wouldn't get her to go potty! So far she's everything we've ever dreamed of.
We had a mini goldendoodle that began some serious recource guarding at 12 weeks. We did everything we could to help him move past his issues for 6 months...hired a behaviorist to come to our home, 16 obedience classes.. and ultimately he bit my husband (6 months later), breaking th skin while guarding a kleenex. We were so heart broken. With kids in our home, we knew he needed another home and he got a great home with a a couple in their fifities with no kids. He's happy and now we're so happy! It's been a rough road for us, but we are blessed in the end!!!
Here are some photos of Annie! The first ones are of her now and the latter ones are of her when we first got her. http://www.cederholmphotography.com/Other/Annie/16275811_ribjL

Such gorgeous pictures! Is that your own photography business? So glad it is working out well. I didn't realize Annie was already 3.5 years old. Glad she is adjusting well -- it must be a big change for her to switch households at that age.
Annie is lovely -- I like the long hair look and the spunky shorter do as well :) Thanks for sharing.
Hi Jennifer,
Thanks for the kind words about the pics! My husband and I do a photography business on the side and we enjoy it. Annie is a fun subject! She's a little honey and we adore her sweet, gentle personality. Things really are going well and I'm so happy. Sounds like you had a few roughs spots initially with your new addition, but sounds like things are going in the right direction for you! Those transitions can be challenging, but your other doggy will keep the new one in line I'd bet. :)
We also have a guardian dog named Annie! It juat must be a great name since Annie is perfect also! :) Our Annie is also an Australian Labradoodle!
Hi there! That's neat that you have a wonderful Annie that is an Australian Labradoodle as well. :) She is just a sweetheart and we are in love with this dog. She is very attentive and affectionate. We are waiting on her heat cycle, but not signs of it yet. How long have you had your Annie? We've been guardians just 3 months, but love it. Lyn
