I am really liking PVC and making agility equipment. I just can't wait until I can fence in my backyard (one of these days)!
I saw a this tire jump and figured I could make something like it.
In reading the comments, it appeared that the "ring" was nothing more than a couple of those pool noodles with a couple of bungie cords.
I was search for a "ring" and came across a YouTube video of someone making a ring out of the black 4" drain tile.
So, I created my own version of the Tire Jump.
Below I have a list of the materials, cut sizes, pictures and cost.
Materials (all PVC is 1-1/4" ID):
Qty 2 10' PVC (cut as indicated below - I had them cut the 2 pieces in 1/2 so I could get in my SUV and I didn't have to cut the 2 60" pieces myself)
Qty 2 4-way connectors (ordered from FORMUFIT)
Qty 2 90 degree elbows
Qty 4 end caps
Qty 1 10' drain tile
Qty 3 1" screws (had)
Qty 4 12" canopy tarp ties
Colored Duck tape
Colored vinyl tape (had)
With the exception of the connectors, I bought everything at Home Depot.
I formed the drain tile into a ring, cut it with a hacksaw and put 3 screws in it
I cut the pieces (I used a pvc cutter, but you can use a hacksaw):
I assembled the base/legs:
Added the uprights and the top piece:
Attached the "tire" to the uprights with canopy tarp ties:
It is adjustable:
I still have to "wrap" the tire with duck tape and add some vinyl tape to the pvc pieces (decorative mostly). I did buy three rolls of duck tape, but 1 roll should actually be enough to cover the drain tile.
Here's a picture of the tape and the canopy tarp ties.
So, total cost to make one tire jump - $33.11! And I really enjoyed doing it.
(I am only including the cost of 1 roll of tape and 1/2 the canopy tarp ties since I can use those elsewhere but the above number includes tax for the materials from HD and shipping on the connectors.)
