Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
It has been so hot in Atlanta this month that I was really feeling sorry for Harlow. She just looked hot and miserable in her longer cut. So I took her to our groomer for her summer cut. The groomer came out and we chatted about how to cut Harlow and I don't know... something came over me. An overwhelming curiosity to see what Harlow's face looked like without her beard. I told the groomer forget everything we talked about and do a poodle puppy cut. She looked at me like I had lost my mind and said, " You want me to shave her face and throat and clip her feet?". I said, "Yes" and walked out of the shop before I could change my mind.
Here are some before shots that I got of Harlow (actually they are new path in progress shot that Harlow just happened to be standing in)...
Here are after her visit to the groomer. She is definitely feeling cooler.

She looks wonderful! This is from a poodle lover, and being that a lot of doodles are at least half poodle it works!
We always keep Mitzi cut short because we live in a warm to hot climate (South Fla.) and it is way easier to keep her groomed without mats. She is cooler and dries off in less than 10 minutes after getting wet. We also can't stand the dripping beard when her chin was covered with long hair.
Also this is far from a puppy cut, which is left a little longer but no puffs, just clean feet.
Oh, how adorable Look how happy she is! That's a great photo of her "smile!" She will be much cooler, indeed.
It's amazing how poodle-y these doods are under all that fur. I always thought Toby was big boned until he got shaved last Spring (due to mats). I was shocked to see he had a dainty little body! Poodles are precious, but I missed his silly goofy - yet someone distinguished - look of a doodle-y doodle. Fortunately for me, it grew back nicely in a few months. :)
Nice face, Harlow. Porter says you look hawt, and by that he means cool ;-)
Last time I brought him in, he had matts on his beard and 'stache. The groomer (a new one since he's learned to body-plant in the PetSmart parking lot) called to explain they felt they needed to shave his face. She was SHOCKED when I said, sure, no problem, we get him done that way a few times a year.
He's got a Lab body & snout with poodle-sized ears and soft, tightly curled poodle hair. Quite a mix deserves quite a variety of haircuts imo :-)
