Me and Henry went to our first Obedience Class last night and he did great!  I was so proud of him and he was pooped out.  I am looking forward to this with him and he did seem to enjoy it.  The one trainer called him the star of the class.  Most the dogs were around one, he is about  4 1/2 months and there was a 6 month pup there too.  He picks things up SO FAST, he's my bright boy.  HA  It was fun though for both of us.  I am about to go to the "Settle" command where I have to get him to lie on his training mat for 30 minutes.  She said this is great command and one every dog should learn.  I guess I should give him a few minutes though, he's got a case of crazies right at the moment.

Henry is up to like 32 pounds now, fully immunized and safe to fully enjoy the world. :D  He hit the minimum the breeder said he'd be and he's not even five months yet.  I'm hoping he'll even out right around 50 pounds, but it probably will be like 70 or so and I'll be happy with that too.  :D

We have him in a BIG cage type crate and bought him a Large Kong Bed at Petsmart.  I think just getting the bigger cage helped with him getting hot at night.  Well, that and I bumped the thermostat down an extra degree for him (and me!).  I think I am gonna give him a couple weeks and then leave the cage door open and see how that goes for a few weeks.  If it goes good, then I'll get that huge pen out of my bedroom and leave the bed there.

We are just so happy with our Henry though, he's turning out to be such an amazing dog, which everyone on here knows.  It was a rough start with the nipping and craziness, but the work truly did pay off.  So, those of you thinking your dog may have mental issues and will nip forever, they won't.  Just stay the course.  :D

What a wonderful report. Hooray for Henry and you, Jenny! Strong work!
Glad to hear how well his class went!  Hes a Cutie!
Good boy, Henry!  Sounds like a great first class.
Beautiful boy. Congratulations on your training.
WOW Julie!  I simply cannot believe how big he's grown since that first photo you posted and were wondering what to do about the fur growing close to his eyes!! (That was your post, wasn't it??)  He's beautiful!  What a happy face!  He really looks like he's smiling!  I can't believe he was the star of the class at 4-1/2 mos old!  That's so young!! What is the age requirement for obedience class?  (not puppy kindergarten but the formal obedience?)

All the classes are really different.  This was more obedience then puppy which was fine with Henry being 4 1/2 months.  Most of the dogs are like one to one and half, you can tell the owners are feeling that do or die.  He loves the class and is doing so great!

Oh and yes, that was me that posted about snipping out the hair in front of the eyes.  I just did it again, for the third or fourth time last night.  I love to see his eyes!

Sorry I misused your name, JENNY!!!!!

HA HA  I knew who you meant!  ;)

How's your pup?  Getting close!!!

It is very comforting to hear how well your puppy is doing with the nipping and biting because I am going through all of that with my almost 5 month old doodle and she's driving me nuts! Good to know it does eventually stop!
Yes, I can say at this point it has drastically improved.  Just stay consistent and when you dont' think it's working, it is.  It just takes some time.  Don't rip your hair out!  HA
Henry is turning out to be a star!
He's so-o-o beautiful!  And you must be so proud of how smart he is and of how he wants to please you.  Isn't obedience  training fun?  It is a "bonder" beyond belief, as well.  Keep up posted with photos and reports on his newest accomplishments!
