Was in Costco the other day, and saw this. My mother feeds their mastiff the Kirkland brand food which is moderatly highly rated as a "budget brand" both here and elseware on line. Considering this is a grain-free food and BB is on TOTW now, would this be something that is a step higher than that, still at a truely affordable price?
Any new info on this in the past 6 months or so?
I'm just wondering (as I'm trying to learn) why TOTW would be considered so much higher in quality and nutrition than Nature's Domain? Actually, I should clarify... I am specially comparing the ND Salmon to the TOTW Pacific Stream formula (The ND Turkey/Sweet Potato formula doesn't appear to be very comparable to any of the other TOTW formulas). The salmon formulas seem very very comparable to me though. To my newbie eye TOTW appears slightly higher in quality due to the fact that it uses less meat "meal" product in it's meat sources. ND seems to have less variety in their meat sources (but I'm guessing they are using more of 1 meat ingredient, Salmon meal, as opposed to a variety of fish ingredients). It also appears that ND contains some potato protein adding to its protein content, which TOTW does not use. Other than those differences though - these 2 formulas appear quite similar me, most of the other ingredients being identical. The nutritional information shows TOTW as 10 cals higher per cup than ND, so depending on the size of the dog you would have to feed a bit more of the ND to equal the TOTW as you mentioned. But the other nutritional ratios are nearly identical. Just wondering if there is anything that I am missing that would make the TOTW Pacific formula so much higher in quality than the ND? I wouldn't think it would have anything to do w/ manufacturing since they are both made by Diamond. Comparing foods is something I am trying to learn as much about as I can. Thanks much! :)
