So Rooney & Stuart have been having more supervised play time and would puppy wrestle till I would separate them for a rest period.  Today it was the rule that if Rooney came into Stuart's space - he would "take" one of Stuart's toy's or his bully stick and then try to get out of the gated space with it.  If Stuart and he were playing outside of the gated area whatever Stuart had - Rooney would take it away.  O.K. - they'll work it out, Rooney is being a brat because he is a tad jealous.  Just now we all went out to the lanai to watch the storm blow in and for momma to enjoy her wine.  DH and I are setting there and I say to him "wtd is Rooney doing"?  Baby Stuart was trying his hardest to come be by us and Rooney was "herding" him away and would not let him near.  Then Rooney, for the first time, got really rough with Stuart and was being too aggressive.  We had to stop them and separated them.  Poor Stuart is now limping from the thrashing that he got from Rooney.  I know that Rooney needs time to adjust but I'm shocked that sweet, gentle Rooney went all ugly on Stuart.  Rooney won't know what hit him when Stuart is WAY bigger and puts the hammer down.

Sounds like Rooney is establishing his role as Alpha! I'm sure he is going to make a wonderful big brother!

Jane, your stories are so much fun to read.  You should journal every day and bind them into a Doodle saga.  I'd wager that they would sell like hot-cakes!

Rooney and Stuart are on their way to being best buds.  Just you wait and see!

I agree completely, Ellen!
Keep 'em coming, Jane!!
Tell Rooney that Rua only has eyes for him and that new brother of his is just a little squirt right now and she thinks he needs to take it easy on him!
You're so right, Jane.  Rooney better enjoy it for now....Stuart will be getting even very soon.
Hopefully, Stuart will have a short memory for these times and won't take it out too badly on Rooney in years to come!
I think one of the hardest lessons to learn is that our cute, furry, sweet little doodles are actually really dogs and these are the things that dogs do.  Whenever I have a foster in the house and my sweet laid back I don't give a crap about anything Lucy turns into a Bossy B#T#$C!   It just breaks my heart to see her so unhappy that there is another dog in the house upsetting her world.  With Sophie she really doesn't care about anything.  Sophie could probably chew her ears off and she would just lay there, but foster dog come near any of her toys and it is snap and growl, come near her mommy and it is even worse.    Everyone has told me to just let them work it out, but even knowing that is what I need to do it is hard to watch.
