I apologize for the descriptions ahead of time but it's a necessary evil.

Well our little girl is having trouble pooping. On Monday morning Daisy took a bit longer to poop, and it was huge....this is very weird for her, it's usually squat and it's done....Monday evening just a little tiny poop but still hard time going. Tuesday, still taking a while but still able to perform. This morning she was not able to make it happen, she tried but no success. DH took her to back yard and played Chuck it for a while thinking it may help "loosen" things up and afterward still nothing.

She has a vet appointment scheduled for tomorrow evening...meanwhile I would like to get her some relief. I am thinking she has had to many homemade frozen yogurt treats, maybe having the same problem that I have when I eat too much cheese (again sorry for that). She loves them after play and it seems to cool her down. I thought I heard that pumpkin helps both ways with diarhea and with constipation but I need to ask before I do that just in case I am wrong.

She is still eating and drinking and playing for that matter but she has to be miserable don't ya think?

A little help please.

UPDATE: after Daisy's huge poop this morning she did not eat, we took it to work and I added a little pumpkin, still not eating...at 5 when we left for the day we walked out front as usual for her evening poop - voila, no struggle, normal size, normal consistency. We came home she walked past her chuckit, turned, nosed it, I said we can play if you want...she ran to the yard and we played Chuckit for about 15 minutes. When we came in, she ate her dinner and then laid on the deck relaxing until Daddy came home.

She is seemingly back to normal. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks Everyone.

Oh my...I don't have much advice, but I hope that you get some great answers!!
I will say that I don't think it's the yogurt treats you're giving her...only because- and this is coming from human nutrition- but yogurt has probiotics in, which actually helps digestion and keeps things consistant, so I would think it would be the same for dogs.
My molly has had diarhea and we would give her a scoop of yogurt mixed with a scoop of pumpkin.
What kind of dog food is she eating?

She is on and has been on Acana....she doesn't eat treats, never has been food motivated. She eats to live, not lives to eat (on like her Mom and Dad). Her appetite remains the same, nothing has changed.

We also do yogurt and pumpkin for the same reason.

Many have said on here that pumpkin works either way, just helps to regulate.  I've never used it for this purposes as I've never needed it, but they say it works.  Are you sure she hasn't gotten a hold of something that may have caused a blockage?  Hope that isn't the case.    Hope she is feeling better real soon.  Let us know what the vet says.

Gosh I really don't think so....she isn't really a chewer and frankly is never ever alone so nearly impossible for that to happen.

I may have to go earlier than tomorrow to the Vet (she really hates the Vet), I am starting to worry.

Gonna try one more time this morning for a poop attempt, I will let you all know.

keep us updated, I'd like to get the same advice just for future reference as well!
I would definitely try the pumpkin, give plenty of water, add a tsp of salmon or olive oil to her next meal, possibly include some veggies (green beans are great).  Good luck and let us know.  Also, I think exercise really does help to "move things along".  My guys always poop on a good long walk.....LOL.

Well Daisy just came to me and I took her out again she took a while but she just pooped, huge and hard, hopefully this is the beginning of her feeling better.

Keeping our fingers crossed!
It sounds like she might finally be getting on track.  Maybe cut back on the yogurt.  Gracie is also on Acana and she has always done the same as Daisy...eat to live but since we have added the green beans she has much firmer poops and now loves to have her meals.  We are not big treat givers and we haven't had to use pumpkin or any of the oils.  She is basically perfectly normal.  Only when she gets junk treats when a neighbor or friend gives her something do we have yucky poops.  Is there any chance that Daisy ate a sock or toy or something that is causing blockage?  Though now that she got the poop out this morning she is probably getting back to normal and by the time you go to the vet tomorrow night she will be fine.  She maybe passing something she ate and shouldn't have!  Happy pooping!

Seriously Nancie, Daisy does not eat anything...people try to give her treats, she takes them and spits them out. The only thing she eats without issue is he Acana....I thought maybe she is having trouble because we took the tablespoon full of canned Wellness away cause she seems to eat it without...that was Sunday, Monday began the problem.I put it back in last night thinking it might help...well she pooped this morning on her third attempt. Weird and so Random.

Ha ha, def did not eat a sock, she is always with me, I would have known.

Right now she is asleep in her bad in my office with her breakfast w/pumpkin in front of her...she does not like change.

I am crossing my fingers that this is the beginning of her getting back to normal, if not the Vet and her will have to have more conversation then she likes. :o(

I don't know, Jack poops are all over the place... I don't know what to say.. Hope it balances out soon.
Normally Daisy poops 3 times a day, morning, around 2 and then 9ish right before bed. She is so out of whack. Hoping that the big poopers this morning gets her back on track. These times are pretty much set in stone and NEVER EVER an issue, I would be pressed to say it takes her longer that 30 seconds to do her deed.
