I am soooo thrilled with the results of Jacks grooming. The place had a great feel for it when I went in there.. The lady owns the groom shop herself, and she has one person who does the washing.. Her children were running around playing with toys and she asked if Jack like kids. Jack got to play with the kiddos in between getting washed and cut.

She looked at all my pictures, listened to my horror stories of past grooming experience and I must have told her a million times, I am not looking for perfection, I am not looking to get the most for my money so you don't have to shave him down, I mostly want him to have a good experience so he can come back.

She had him fully ready in three hours, I walked in and Jack was playing with the kids. She said he barked his head off when I left but other then that he was fine. no clawing, no trouble or anything.

I am so happy with her. The haircut is perfect. Since I had been grooming Jack myself, I missed a lot of areas, one being in between his toes, so she had to do the poodle cut on his feet, she knew I didn't want it, but she couldn't do anything about it, I know his feet were bad..

My boy looks adorable.. I am not where I can post pictures right now but I will later.. She was very inexpensive and she was sweet. calm and she listened.!!!

Pictures to follow tonight

I have been grooming Jack myself for quite a while now. I am at the point where he needs a really good brush out.. I have taken the mats out myself, I have printed the instructions on a doodle cut. I have hand written instructions on what exactly I do and don't want.. and I am still nervous. I told the lady that I am looking for a long term relationship with a groomer, one that will love Jack and take care of him and in turn I will pay her well and tip her even better.. Yup I will bribe someone to do a good job.

.... Eek gads.. Hope I get my dog back tomorrow looking like a doodle and not a poodle.. or I am not paying this lady...

If I go to jail, someone please bail me out!!!!

I wish you all the luck in the world, I would love to see pictures when you are done because we are facing this next week Friday we just want her a little shorter not scalped poor Myla. REPEAT REPEAT AND REPEAT what you want!!
I'd love to see pictures too!  :D
I know I said I would groom Riley myself and I will too but I found a great groomer just nearby and they only take two dogs maximum at a time.  He was grooming an OES when I was there and the dog looked great, very natural and not over done.  I am bringing Riley in to just have a wash and perhaps a paw trim to get used to going.  The groomer said he would introduce him to the clippers just run it near him to acclimatise him to the sound and feel.  I think it's probably a good thing to do early so Riley doesn't have any issues if/when I do use the groomer later for more serious work.  He also recommended which Les Poochs brush to buy. I have been brushing him every day and he loves it.  I also gave him a bath with no problem and cleaned his ears.  Teeth are next on my list but I have yet to find the best toothpaste.
Nicky, This sounds like an ideal grooming situation. I agree with the Les Pooches brushes. They have been the best doodle investment I've made.
PS.. Looking forward to the pictures of Jack later.
This is why I always tip hairstylists well - mine and Peri's.  If they get more than normal tips from me and do even a slightly better job, it's well worth it.
Jennifer, where is Jack's new do pictures, aren't you home yet!!!!!!!!?!?!?!?!!?!?
I am so glad Jack Daniels is home and gorgeous! Hooray for a good groomer! This is great news, Jennifer.
Pictures are posted!!!
Glad all has worked out. Sounds like this groomer is a 'keeper'.
