I would love to know some great places to take your doodle for a family vacation.  We are open to anything as long as she can come with us.  We live in Orange County CA.  Are there any pet friendly vacation spots that you personally love?

The Outer Banks in NC was a very pet friendly family vacation spot...but on the other side of the country for you!

Sounds nice but a bit to far for us..Maybe someday in the future.

Go to Carmel!!

We are in San Diego and we went there with all three of our girls two summers ago. We're going again in just a few weeks. It is truly doggy heaven and our girls loved, loved, loved the off-leash beach where they could run like the wind. Many of the restaurants and shops are doggy friendly and the last time we met some old chat forum friends--in person. Really fun. Carmel is crazy busy in the summer time but I made our reservations just a couple of weeks ago. If you're going on vacation soon, let me know, since I have one reservation still active that I need to cancel because we found something else. It's for the last week of July.

Or, come to San Diego for a weekend and take your furbaby to the dog beach at Coronado. I think all the Marriott chains will allow dogs but, of course, you can't leave them in the room alone. You can walk into the village for lunch at Tent City restaurant where they have a wonderful patio where you can have your Doodle with you.

Great ideas thanks!  Where is this place in Carmel that you stay?  It sounds right up our alley watching the kids run along the shoreline with Bella.  We plan to go on vacation the 3rd week of August for a week.  San Diego is also a spot that we would like to visit this summer, since my kids have been wanting to visit Sea World!  I didn't know about the Marriott allowing pets.

Thanks again

We took 3 dogs to Cannon Beach on the Oregon coast and stayed in a small cottage that allowed dogs.  It was a great time and the town is very dog friendly.  Rumor has it that in the off season dogs are permitted off leash on the beach...that's when we were there but we got mixed signals.  In any case, it's a great place to visit with dogs and you can find low cost lodging too depending on your needs.

We were just in CB last week for 5 days and well-behaved dogs are allowed offleash year round, except close to Haystack Rock. We always stay at the south end of the beach because it's less crowded. Dogs are also welcome in many of the shops and restaurants.

I'm sorry where is CB?  It looks like a place we would like to look into..
My daughter loves Oregon!  We few from OC to SFO last year and drove up the coast to Oregon..She thought that was the most beautiful coast line she had ever seen!  We would have to fly into Portland and drive to the coast this time with Bella.  I wonder how she would take to flying a 2 hour flight at 15 weeks old..
I looking at renting a houseboat at the moment in either Lake Powell or Lake Shasta..Has anyone taken their doodle on a houseboat for a week?  I wonder how Bella would take a 10 hour drive??
